Blown LS3 looking at lSX376 b15
Hi All,
As the title says, I've blown my engine and i've been reading a lot on lSX376 b15. i've lived in the 840+ rwhp lvl for the past 2 years and to be honest i've not done any activity (track racing, drag racing) to utilize those 840 rwhp. I'm into street racing (which i know is wrong) but nothing crazy couple of times only. i'm a big fan of cruising and listening to my camshaft looping (Might sound crazy, but this is what i crave). Sometime i like to eat couple of GTRs Now i've been looking at the LSX376, since i will be procharging it with a D1, but i've couple of questions for those experts in this forum. by the way nothing can be salvaged from my LS3. Real damaged happened. 1) is it a direct swap to LS3 or will i need to buy (manifold, harness, coils, LT headers). 2) is it a durable engine at 700-800 rwhp all year long. To be honest the price caught my attention (as other options are 13000+) as well as a post by Adm team achieving what i believe a durable 800+ on this engine. I understand that to play we got to pay, but I'm looking for a great "bang for your buck". Durability is the key to me not beating an underground 1000+ TT lamborghini. Appreciate your input.

It would work but I would also check out other options like a forged 402/408 ls2/3. Shouldn't be $13k.

I didn't pay 13k for my 417 stroker from ADM by a long shot. It should be a good motor but I would look into a bigger cube stroker if I was you.

I just did a LSX 427. However, I did that to make 1000whp. I can praise how great the LSX motor is, but if you're looking to just stay at ~850, then you should look into a forged motor. There really is no point in spending more on a motor if there isn't a need for it. Look into Texas-speed. They offer a lot of different blocks with multiple ways of configuring it.

To be honest I did not say 13000+ until I've received two quotation from vendors. Looking at TSP and as mentioned nothing over 13000. I will check them out more.

The B-8 will handle what you are trying to accomplish at a far cheaper price.

Do you know what caused the engine to blow? Was it a mechanical failure, or tuning? A forged internals LS3 should handle 850whp without much of a problem. Detonation will kill $13+k built motor just as easy as a $6k one.

$13k installed maybe. A solid long block stroked/ls3 with nice heads should be in the $10k range. Of course options go up and down. When I priced one at TSP it was $9200 with aftermarket PRC heads. Better pistons, rods, more cubes, better heads, better cam than the b15. Check out Livernois, they make excellent motors. LME is also one of the top LS engine builders and is priced well.

Axis the reason was one of the fans stopped working, and i did not notice the gauge until the warning sign was on. Then it was too late for me. i'm in the middle east. Temp was 54 C that day.

Texas speed hooked me up on my forge ls3.
So many options and blocks to choose from for any budget. Can't go wrong with anyone you listed. |
