Driving ZL1 in winter
We’re having a very early snow storm here this week and my winter driver is in the shop getting a tune up and stereo. So I’m left driving the ZL1 in winter like conditions.
Do any of you drive your ZL1’s in the snow / ice / slush / mud? I noticed the back tires were pretty 'slippy' this morning and it wasn’t freezing yet. It will get worse by morning, there should be a ton of snow and freezing. So far I plan on driving it. |

Be careful if you have the Goodyears. According to the manufacturer don't drive on them below 40 degrees Fahrenheit and don't store below 20. Be careful the car become dangerous on those tires in the cold!

I would advise not to drive it on the stock tires. I also used to carry a golf T in my glove box in my last supercharged car. It the weather was bad and traction was going to be an issue (even with winter tires) then I would plug a certain boost pressure line with the golf T which would not allow the bypass valve to close. Basically removing any boost at all. Worked good on that car and I drove it daily in all weather for 6 years. Not sure how that could be done with the ZL1 though. Be careful!

I've driven it in blinding snow and ice because I had no other way to get home. While I was surprised at how well it handled it, I would try to avoid doing it if you can.
I put the car in PTM 2 and was easy on the throttle and brakes. That said , I've lived in NY and WI so I'm used to driving in snow. Good luck.

Sven 59, I just checked my tires. Now, I have to look this stuff up, but I think its bad news...these aren't the snow friendly ones.

Reminds me of my very first gas up right off the lot....I turned around and looked back at the car and thought, holy sh!t that's a mean looking car. It looked way different when off the lot and somewhere by itself. |

I would be more worried about someone sliding into you. You know how the idiots are on the road but yea those tires are dangerous on snow.

That's also my concern since we get ice in the cold months. Still on GY F1s with 630RWHP. No many choices out there in stock fitment. Wish A/S was available

The Michelin pilot super sports work pretty good, I haven't had them on ice or snow but they are much better than the GYs in cold weather.

I Would avoid it at all costs very dangerous had to drive last winter and almost slid all 4 completely sideways under and 18 wheeler doing 40MPH the whole car was completely sideways. These OEM tires are like Hockey Pucks.
