So I placed my order, here in Texas. at 7:45am on 10/13/2008. I had only been waiting forever to get to that point... only to find I had to go with a second choice color, Cyber Gray, on the high-end SS/RS model I was ordering. Bummer. My dream of Blue w/White Rally's was crushed.

When the decision changed to allow the Imperial Blue, at least when I found out about that in early February, I was ecstatic. I immediately called the dealership and adjusted my order, without issue.

Last week, the dealer called. My Camaro will be the ninth model off the line... the 9th one made!!! I will be the proud owner of one of the first ten of the production series *and* it'll be in my desired Blue w/White Rally's combination. Hooray!

One question though: the dealer told me that Chevy is doing something special to the first ones of the line, but wouldn't tell me what. Apparently, there will also be some special marketing stuff related to this coming my way soon, but once again they wouldn't tell me what. Anyone in the know about this?

First I've heard of it. Not sure how they would know which VIN it will be since production hasn't started

Thanks for the welcome and reply!

Needless to say, I was floored... I had to sit down. Apparently, according to my dealer here in north Texas, it's a big deal to be in the first ten made (tell me something I didn't know, right?) and Chevy is acknowledging this with special things on the first cars off the line and cool stuff for the owners.

It's making these last few weeks even more intense though, I can tell you that!

Maybe he's talking about the special stuff you get for pre-ordering... the welcome kit, and extra "early activity" RPO code, etc...?

I was skeptical too, so when I called back (original notification was on my voice mail) I asked similar questions... apparently, and again this is being told to me by my dealer but it's not like they have reason to lie to me, the dealers with the first orders on the line are being notified.

This is actually the reason that I joined this forum, to see if I could learn more details about this from anyone... I figure someone on here has got to be one of the other 8 in the first 10 (since, as I understand it, the first one is being auctioned off by Chevy for charity that only leaves nine in the first ten.. if I am in fact getting one, that leaves 8).

Neh, already got that stuff. I specifically asked, "you mean my car will be the 9th one made out of all of them... the 9th one off the line... this seems like a really big deal?" The dealers reply, "yes, exactly... it's a huge deal... that;s why we're calling you."

I ordered mine from Classic Chevrolet, in Grapevine Texas.
