Now why did you have to go and say that? You just busted open a hornet's nest.

It would suck far more if the car was imported from a country outside the continent, imo....Better Canada than...say Korea or Germany.:(

This is sad news. Though I don't think it will be a long layoff, and I don't think it's fair to completely 'blame' the Camaro. There are other factors at play here. Here's to hoping that the segment grows to support both cars well. Both are 30mpg cars, so....there's reason to consider them "practical"....

This is for sure not one of those situations where you want to swing the "HAHA CAMARO PWNS UR FACE" stick around. At the end of the day we're all human beings before we're Camaro owners. Really sad news.

AMEN! We are very fortunate to have the luxury to be able to purchase these cars. This economy is terrible, hasn't gotten better, and it's damn right scary out there!

I personally will keep all 900 employees in my thoughts and prayers...

With the economy in the shape it presently is, I'm not surprised to see a few Camaros sitting on the lots, production and demand will eventually get pretty close to each other, but dealers should have cars on the lot to choose from. It should never get to the point again that they have none on the lot and you have to order to get one.

I won't argue with that, but the reason the Camaro has kicked their butts to this point is from the big time enthusiasts. I have no doubt that the Camaro will continue to sell like gangbusters but expect the Mustang to equal it out in the not so distant future. They will both be good sellers. I'm saying that the R&D on the Mustang is not the cause of the layoff.

No, but to redesign the car for 2010 with the powertrain of 2009 only to have it change in 2011 was not a smart move.

No it wasn't. BUT, if the Z28 were to hit, there would be a LOT of used 2010 SS models out there.

It's gonna be awhile and I won't be one of them. I will admire the Z28 for sure, but I have my Black SS and she's mine forever.

There can only be so much market share for cars like the Camaro, Mustang and Challenger (especially in hard economic times). The introduction of the Camaro and the Challenger take a piece of the pie that solely belonged to Ford for many years. I think, sadly, that even if 2011 Mustang sales go up, most may not get their job back because the pie will not be all theirs anymore. Who knows though, they may get picked up for another plant making something like the SHO if sales pick up for that car next year. I don't think GM has anything to compete with that.

I hate to see it happen to any autoworker "unless you build foreign in N/A"

But i am glad we are selling to well.

At this point it's survival of the fittest, and the more we have back to work in Oshawa the better!

Well, Ford did say they were gonna rehire many of the workers for their other plants like the Ford Explorer. It does still suck though, for the people with the uncertainty of a job in their lives.

My mother in law works at that plant... she says she's OK, thankfully... but sucks to hear about it for the 900 folks losing their jobs though. Hits home for me since I grew up in flat rock and still live in the area.

She said the 900 were already told about their jobs and are already looking for new ones; also that the people that get to keep their shift have to work 10hr shifts 5 days a week + every other Saturday.

Hopefully things will pick up with the 2011 MY.
