Stabilitrak has lost its mind.....
I'm a new member here- but have been reading useful posts here for a while. I'm glad I have now officially registered. Good info here.
Has anybody here had this happen? I have a 2011 SS and the Stabilitrak system has started to malfunction. When I drive into a gradual sweeping turn like a highway offramp or twisty back road - at speeds that are normally NO PROBLEM for this car- the Stabilitrak system kicks in when there is no reason for it to do so. The traction warning light on the dash comes on for a few seconds and the car automatically uses its brakes to slow down and try to control the slide/skid when there ISN'T any... I'm talking like 40-45 MPH here... The SERVICE STABILITRAK message has never come up- the system thinks it's acting normally- which might make it hard for dealer to diagnose?? I heard it could be a faulty "steering wheel position sensor"... Any ideas? Thanks. Tony |

have you recently put different tires and wheels on it? If you go with diameter too far off from stock, you'll get these sort of problems with stabilitrak.

New tires recently- same size and speed rating... Stock 20" wheels...
By the way- I have been getting an occasional message to service the tire pressure monitoring system. The light comes on and then always goes back off when I park for a little while... related ?? |

I don't believe so no. You can re-learn your tire pressure monitors. Sent from my Sparkyz iPhone using Tapatalk |

This. It takes 2 minutes at the dealership, and they likely won't charge you anything. My stabilitrac got kinda nutty at first when I swaped to 20's. My tire diameter went from 28.6" stock to 28". What does your tire pressure read-out on the DIC show? If your TPMS's aren't transmitting properly then this could affect your stabilitrac. I'm just thinking that your computer would be missing those data points?

If you have an aftermarket radio, particularly with a Scosch kit, the TPMS can flash on and off randomly.
I thought the 2010 and 2011 could both do their own relearn without having to go to the dealers?

I'm having a similar problem. I can't figure it out!
My Service Stabilitrack comes on all the time randomly. Just driving down the freeway sometimes. The TPMS does the same thing. Sometimes they both light up. Car drives fine. I have 22"s, so that is the only thing I can think of. Will a tune correct this?

There is a TPMS relearn procedure in the manual of my 2010SS.

I realize how displeasing it can be when faced with a Stabilitrak concern like this Tony, and though you're seeking thoughts and opinions, I would be happy to communicate this situation with the designated Customer Experience Manager at your preferred dealer. Feel free to message us privately if you'd like to proceed, or discuss this situation further. William R. Chevrolet Customer Care |

you don't happen to use an OBD II reader when driving do you? running torque w/ obd type thing - this can cause it.

I just hooked up my code reader. No trouble codes stored at all....
Would it help at all to disconnect the battery for a little while in the hopes that all sensors and modules would "reset"...??? Works on my boat sometimes... Tony |

What a pleasant surprise to get a response here from Chevy. Very nice. How do I send you a private message here? I'm new to this forum. I do plan to take my car to my local dealer for this so your help would be greatly appreciated. Tony |
