In terms of handling? Maybe... I know that SS still was faster around a longer course, but that Track Pack was just a killer addition.

Please don't misunderstand - these reviews and results in no way would change my mind in getting Camaro. It's hard to argue these times and results. However, I'm not convinced these are real-world numbers we'd see, because I just don't believe a SRA is better than IRS (except for maybe in drag racing). Even in this article, they commented they were able to keep it to the wood over some areas the 5.0 couldn't because the IRS just planted the power better. These are the sorts of circumstances I keep going back to, because of the IRS, and always brings me back to thinking it's still a better car and with a little more factory tuning, it would just be that much better. Who's arguing, anyways??...

The article mentions the SS was .2 faster in the 1/4 mile(13.0 vs 13.2) and only .1 slower lap time(1:37.7 vs 1:37.6). That is yet another mainstream review showing the Camaro beating the 5.0 in the 1/4 mile. It's ALMOST exactly the same in lap times too, and that's considering the Mustang had all the performance upgrades you can buy (gearing, brembos, etc) and was $3500 more expensive.

As mentioned many times before, performance metrics are SO close in these cars it's almost a wash. You pretty much have to buy the one that makes your heart race when you see it.

I happen to now own both. IMO Off the showroom floor the Camaro is the superior ride. After Pedderising both, adding F/I, brake, wheel and tire upgrades the Mustang appears to be faster on a road course and drag strip than the Camaro. The ride in far better in the Camaro. In a 20 lap race my guess is the Camaro would win as it is easier on the tires. Our head to head run was preliminary. Each vehicle had a few development parts installed so they were not finished products.

The Mustang is very fast. It has to be to even keep up with our Camaro. There is no way I thought we would have the Mustang running as fast as our Camaro when I picked it up from Saleen. I am very impressed at how the Mustang responded to being Pedderised. Running final production parts on both vehicles head to head will provide interesting results for us at Pedders and material for discussion on the forum.

I like the article because it shows the Camaro to be the faster more comfortable car. When they start subtracting points for trunk size it just makes me upset. These cars are not family cars, but muscle cars. The Camaro embodies my idea of a muscle car much more than the high reving low tourque Mustang. The Camaro has loads of power down low and looks like a muscle car. The Mustang looks like a family coupe made to look like a muscle car. It's been said before, but a Mustang is just another Mustang out of the multitudes of them already on the road.

Anything you start taking points away for little things like that on a sports car, then you have no business writing about these things. Cause let me tell you, having driven Ferraris and Lambos the last thing you do is pay attention to the carrying space or the options within the car. For the price of those cars I mentioned you would think they have the world's best interior. hahah, not so much. They are nice but I have seen better in 60000 bmws. Point is you don't buy a car like that for visibility and everyday practical use, and its sorta the same here most people buy these cars as a second car anyway.

So to look for normal things that you would look for in a car for everyday use is not something that should be done with these cars.

Wait, I'm confused. So you already have a '11 GT with brake upgrades, forced induction and suspension? As far as I know, you are the first to have forced induction on a 5.0 other than the few test cars for the forced induction aftermarket giants like whipple and magnacharger, etc. Are you talking about a '10 or a '11? Info please.

I agree totally with ssump29. If you want a family car you don't by a muscle/sports car.
