I'm considering doing my rear blackout with plasti dip. I've used plasti dip many times and understand techniques to having perfect lines and it would be a whole lot cheaper then the vinyl blackout and may also cover the areas better!

Yes if you are painting a large area like this just start taking the tape off of the side you started at when you get done with your coat. Unless you really over do your coat it wont run. Here are a couple more pics the pin stripe is vinyl.

So for a large area like the blackout between the lights, do you spray then remove tape when wet, then let it dry, then tape again and do the same thing??

There may be a better way but I could not think of one. That is what I did.
