I agree on the big brother theory. They know too much already about us personally. Id rather pay the extra 30% for my privacy. In my opinion...insurance rates should only be guaged by tickets and accidents. Not credit, driving habits, the color of your car or whether your married or not etc...
The only way I'd do this is when I store it for the winter, then they'd make me keep it hooked up for 9-12 months until they got "something" from my habits....good or BAD!

i had prog. for some time, i went down on my bike,, no other cars, or property were involved , only damage was to bike, and me some small road rash. In Vt.
when i got my next statement prog. assessed me $200 additional for my ins. twice a year. Saying "rider error" I dropped them, went to another ins.co.

While I really would LOVE to lower my insurance rate, i dont think that someone monitoring my driving is something for me. I feel like there is too much "Big Brother" going on now-a-days as it is, I just dont think a lot of people realize it. But, having it attached while storing your car for the winter is a great idea.
Thats not a lot of time for the car to reach proper temp. More damage then good. Carefull friend.

Once you let Big Brother in your home, next thing your daughters knocked up, the fridge is empty, and the money is missing off the dresser................I am just saying!

No, but they notice that the unit isn't powered up.
I did this in my last car, and got the 30% discount easy. The best part....after 6 months they asked me to send it back and the 30% discount would continue on.
I moved and am now with a different carrier for my Camaro, but at $80/month for this being my only current car...I certainly can't complain.

The day I let someone grade my driving is the day I turn in my keys.

I'll save 30% by taking my car off the road and locking it up in a garage for 30% of the year, thank you. And floor it often, or not at all, the other 70% of the time.

If there was only a way that I could get "It's a Small World After All" to play over and over on that part of the car's recording system for them. That really annoyed me at Disney World.

I heard about it. I dread the day that this becomes mandatory thanks to a government law. Seatbelts used to be optional, air bags used to be optional, car data recorders used to be optional... Eventually in the name of "safety" they'll make it mandatory. just watch.

Check out Peter Lewis ,Chairman of Progressive Insurance and you will understand the reasoning behind the plug in . It is much bigger that monitoring driving habits. I will not participate in a political debate, just check him out and come to your own conclusions.

That will the same day they finally do away with the rest of the constitution, like right to bear arms. We lost so many constitutional rights already since 2001, in the name of public safety, the average american has no idea.
