Strut Tower Brace- Noob Question

This is a dumb question but I have an 01 v6 with the stock hood. Would the hood be able to shut fine without hitting the tower brace. The reason Im asking is b/c the v6 brace sticks up higher than the LS1 due to the alternator, or does the brace kind of sit behind the alternator I also bought A STB for my car that the guy said it would fit an 01 v6, but its the LS1 version. Any help would be awesome. Thanks, Derek

you need the v6 one and it will (should) fit under the hood. you might be able to sell the LS1 brace to Zabo

You probably ended up with a LS1 strut tower brace. The V6 strut tower brace is considerably different in design. The V6 strut tower brace we make runs further back in the engine bay. Here are few pictures of the two, the first picture is the V6 strut tower brace and the second is the V8 strut tower brace.

Hard to find, since they don't make them anymore but the Kenny Brown STB is the best for the V6.

Has anyone eliminated thier A/C system? Seems it would clean up some room.

The back mounting point on that strut tower brace is on the cowl of the car. We never designed a strut tower brace like that because the cowl is made of thinner gauge sheet metal and really adds no additional support to the the strut tower brace or chassis of the vehicle itself. Adding that rear mounting point on our strut tower brace would of just made the price higher and wouldn't of helped performance at all.
