Poor 0-60 for my V6. Conditions, Vehicle, or Driver Issue??

So I tried to time my 0-60 time in my v6 and I got a disappointing 8.0 sec!! I tried several attempts and got between 8.0 to 8.6, no better.
I'm not a professional race car driver but I have been driving manual for more than a year and do understand good launches and shifts from bad ones. Although, I'm not ruling out my skill level as a cause for these poor times, but I'm also wondering if something could be wrong with my car.
Here was the entire scenario...

I launched at about 2900rpm (got a little tire squeal)
It is a manual
Shifted at redline (decent but not incredible shifts)
I had a passenger beside me timing for me
My driver window was open
Road quality was good/dry/and level
T/C, A/C, And Radio was all off
I have regular cheap gas
I was timing to 100kph which should have been 96kph(=60mph)

So could all these little things made a total of 2.0 sec from what GM claims which is 6.0 sec? Or could something be wrong with my vehicle? Or do I just need to practice more?

My brother was using my iphone. He pressed start when he felt the car launch and I told him when I hit 100kph.

You probably need to practice more. Your timing isn't very accurate either.

Did you do a burnout first? Or maybe not enough of a burnout?

Don't use a stop watch. Not accurate enough. By the time you feel the car move start the watch, and you signal to stop the watch all play into that time.

You should be able to get to the low 6's without heating the tires etc.

If you are really concerned with performance and the numbers, invest in a timing device that will do the times for you.

I don't have a Manual and I have never timed my 0-60, but I am sure its very well along the lines of 5-6secs simply because couple times when I have floored mine after putting it in Sports mode, the time it took to hit 55mph+ was so little, I barely get to enjoy it before I realize I have to slow down.

there are free apps for that, more accurate than a stopwatch.

so is torque app not available on the I Phone? Not the best but would get you in the ball park. I am sure that there is better out there.
