OK - I've read this far and there is some contradictory info and general confusion being posted...which is no surprise given that the consumer is way more informed than the seller now days.

Here's the coding on my order...
1EH37 Camaro 2LT coupe $26,580.00
LLT 3.6L V-6 engine standard on LT2
FE9 Federal emissions package standard on LT2
GAQ Red Jewel Tintcoat 295.00
AFF Black Leather seats standard on LT2
MX0 Automatic 6-speed
Transmission with TAPShift 995.00
WRS RS Exterior package 1,450.00
B34 Carpeted floor mats standard on LT2
UQA Boston Acoustics
Premium Sound System standard on LT2
N65 Compact Spare Tire/Wheel 150.00
B7W Cyber Gray Stripe package 395.00
Destination/Delivery charge 750.00

Estimated MSRP $30,615.00 (Note that this pricing is preliminary; but, shouldn't change much...or so my dealer thinks)

Although certain items are standard in the RS package or on the LT2, they still need to be input on the order to make sure that they get added on the assembly line. They should pop as "no charge" or "included" on the sticker.

I've got an MSRP ceiling guarantee from my dealer and had to put down a $500 deposit.

I got a photocopy of the actual Chevrolet book sent to the dealers titled "2010 Camaro Initial Ordering Workbook". It has this info on the last page... "The guide covers anticipated Camaro Coupe production from the start of regular production, currently scheduled for mid-February, through approximately Q3 2009." Here's the other tasty key tidbit - "The production guide was developed based on two factors: (1) On your Chevrolet retail sales (both cars and trucks) over the twelve months ending August 2008; and (2) Mustang registrations for the twelve months ended June 2008 in your DMA." Per this document, every dealer has an individual production guide number for the first few months of production on the 2010 Camaro website that they access through chevylaunch.com. Who knows what "first few months of production" means; but, I'll hazard a guess of the first 90-120 days after the line starts full time. After that initial planned production run is completed, it should be open season with no allocations anywhere.

So...initial dealership allocations are based on dealership retail unit sales and the # of Mustangs registered in the sales region so Chevrolet can assure that there will be enough Camaros on the street to properly reclaim them as "bowtie country". After the "first few months of production" are completed, it's open season for orders.

There will be enough to go around; but, you'll just have to be a bit more creative in getting one and aggressive on not getting a high colonic on the pricing of the first batch hitting the streets.

Hope this helps.

Pre-order experience!

Go into the dealership having a really good idea of what you want. Down to the specifics. And know your info by reading those ordering workbooks that were uploaded on this website.

Once you go over what you want, they're probably going to want a check. I had to put down $500. Others say $1,000. It's up to the dealership.

Then they will put your pre-order into the system. Of course, this order can change up until it's been submitted for production (Mid-Febuary).

Some questions you might want to ask...

-Do they offer MSRP or lower?
-Would they offer the employee discount or military discount if GM allows them? (if applicable)
-What's they're allocation, and where would you be on that list?

The allocation will give a hint to when you can possible expect your Camaro. If their allocation is 5. Then they will only recieve 5 up till Sept 09. So if you're # 10 on the list, then you might want to just hold onto your money and wait till next year.

I'm sure I missed a few things, but that should get you started. Go into the dealership expecting to know more than they do lol
When I went in the dealer stated they were adding a 2500 dollar markup to the MSRP price. I was his first order, so I placed it.

I have been looking around since trying to find a dealer who is charging MSRP or a lower cost. I have not been successful yet. I live in Northern Va, and most of the dealers are out to make a lot of money. If anyone lives in Va, and has a dealership charging reasonable rates I would love to know which dealership it is.

Check MD, WV or even Delaware dealers. Worth the hour or 3 drive if you can save 2-3k in my opinion.

Just wanted to share my experience at two different dealerships in my area. The first was a small dealership and walked in to ask about ordering my 1SS/RS and he told me they were selling it at 4K above MSRP! He told me no matter how much research I did I was going to pay a mark-up. I then walked into courtesy Cheverolet (Here in San Jose) and right away one of the salesman told me they were accepting orders at MSRP. My point is no matter what someone says look around for your camaro don't let them rip you off!!! I will be ordering mine in about a month.

Grats on your find. They have always quoted me 5k over MSRP (asked last week again). I'm working on a group buy/discount/fleet pricing with a dealer up here in serramonte and we have about 4-5 people who will be paying between MSRP and invoice after the first batch goes out at 5k over. If you want to wait and save some money, lemme know. Otherwise, grats again.

Yes, the dealer can choose not to offer employee pricing. The only way to get halos and hids is to order the RS package. You won't get either without it.

Anyone know what the GM Card $$$ limit is going to be? Its pretty low on most GM cars these days, but I hate guessing.

As long as they accept up to $1000 I'll be happy. I have somewhere over $800 on mine.
