I can't believe I forgot about Patrick going 200 in March! Roberts car has shown it can break the current record with the power he was making over a year ago, it's no secret he's working on something big right now, I have no doubt he's gonna crush the current record when his car comes together. I'm gonna be standing there watching also, not missing that one for anything!

It's hard to compare an all wheel drive car to a two wheel drive car... Traction is a bugger at all times with the power levels it takes to go this fast...

Snappy has been 225, Chris Hainey has been 206, I've been 203, Josh and Patrick and Danny have gone over 200 as well...

I've actually been 217 at the 3/4 mile but couldn't finish the pass. so, until I make a full mile pull at those speeds, my fastest official pass is 203.4 .
Cool. Here's to you all for representing us so well.

I really don't know much about these top speed long runs, but they're beginning to interest me more and more.
1/2 mile record is actually a TT lambo that did 231mph. They just run out of gear for the mile.

Sounds high??

AMS GTR and Nth Moto built Viper have both run 212mph in the standing 1/2 mile. I thought this Viper is suppose to be the fastest rear drive 1/2 mile car?? At the last event they were both at they were faster than all of the TT lambos in attendance..

Nope, look it up. There are a ton of events, some tend to be faster than others because of DA, elevation, etc. There is several TT lambos in the 225-231 range.

Actually it was 233mph
Underground Racing - 2008 Lamborghini Gallardo - 233.6449 MPH - Driven by Justin Herrick

Last 1/2 mile event in Cali last weekend Heffner went 229mph and that was on a windy crappy day. Probably had 230+ in it too.

Robert already covered it but if you watch the cars run it is completely different. The AWD cars just hammer it right off the line and even if all 4 tires are spinning they keep going straight and by the time they hit the half mile they have achieved 90% of their speed or more because traction is not a problem. The GTR's going 200 at the half are going 205 to 210 at the mile. My car made as much as 56 mph in the second half mile. The RWD cars are constantly trying to ease into the throttle so the tires don't come loose... when they do you have to back out and you lose a lot of time. I was literally shaking after getting sideways at 150-160 mph. If you have a lot a power you have to have a really good tire to make it work with RWD. And you have got to be a pretty good driver.... it is not easy.
