v6 vs v8 looks design differences

is it me or a v8 looks flatter and wider? v6 and v6 have differnt chassis , bodyshapes? maybe a bit more angular also?
also it looks like it has a v shapped air intake under the hood.
anyone else noticed?
are there any listings with the design differences?

i have ordered mine based on the v8 preproduction model that runs around on youtube. yet i went for v6 2lt due to fuel economy and I'd hate to end up having a totaly different car than what i've seen.

help !!!! a fully equipped v6 cost as much as a 1ss easy, so I may still change the order

sorry guys this isn't about engine only design...

The body is the same as far as I know, but the V6 and the V8 have different suspensions. That would account for it looking flatter. The tires on the V6 and V8 are also different and may account for the wider look. Finally, the front end on the SS is different (and includes the "mail slot" right under the hood line) so that may account for some of it too. So it really depends on which models specifically you are comparing. There are subtle differences, but not in the actual body AFAIK. I hope this helps.

The V6 and the V8 have the exact same chasis, It is the same car. Your probaly noticeing the front bumper on the V6 which is practicaly identical to the concept. The V8 front bumper is lower and wider for a little bit better aero dynamics and a more menacing look. Also the V6 manuel gets a LSD not the V6 auto. The V6 Has single piston brakes at all four corners, The V8 has four piston Brembo brakes all around. V6 Has FE2 suspension, V8 FE3 Suspension. Hope I answered your question.

Not sure if this is part of what he was asking, but is there a difference in ground clearance due to the suspensions or is the difference only in the tuning?

I am not 100% sure on this, but I think I read somwhere that the ss sits 1 inch lower. It would make sense they have always sat lower. at least the 4th gens did.

I think, from looking at photos (I haven't read any official info on the subject) that the SS does sit a bit lower than the V6, but not by a full inch. Maybe more like .5 inch...

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for you answers!

I have placed an order for:
2lt , manual, rs, ice, I'm a bit restricted by driving in Europe. Even if I forego the gas price, we realy don't have roads for a lively v8.

Any chance for me to get the more agressive look of a v8 on a v6?
say change the hood, lower the suspension, whatever's needed?

I'll have the modifications in Canada as Europe is barren ground on the likes.

Thanks

i'd say thats possible.

the hoods are the same - you'd have to change the whole front fascia
there's already at least one company working on a suspension kit
the rear diffuser on the bottom of the bumper is different
add a spoiler

I thought the rear diffusers were the same, just with different sized exhaust tips? But it should definitely be possible to swap out the front fascia and get an aftermarket suspension, say from pedders or similar.

Yeah, I lived in Europe for 3 years. Outside of some major highways, there's no way a V8 is even remotely practical throughout most of the continent. Roads are narrow (especially in towns) and everything's so close together that having lots of speed isn't an issue.
