New recaro seat cover, thoughts...

I just picked up a 2014 2SS RS 1le. The seat belt on the driver side tore through the leather loop where it attaches to the seat. The dealer I'm going to has absolutely no problem ordering a new seat cover and putting it on. The only thing the service guy said might be a problem is that when entered into the computer it was suggested to switch both seat covers. His thoughts were that maybe a new cover won't match the passenger side. He also said that sometimes when a new seat cover on it might not fit exactly the same and have some wrinkles that will work themselves out. He suggested that I might also be able to go to a local upholstery place and get them to sew it for cheap so the original covers will still match. Anyone have experience, or thoughts....

It shouldn't have wrinkles if you install it right. I do them all the time at the dodge dealer I work at. The only time the seat cover is wrinkled is when the cushion is caved in or flat from wear. Causing the cover to be a little wrinkled from excessive build up . But taking it to a upholstery place to have it sewed on doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Just curious, what's a seat cover for the Recaros run?

I don't think you want to know, haha. One was 1313$ and the other was 1336$ for the other. No typos. It's insane. Those prices are just for the covers, and not installed. He showed me the prices and I don't know why they are different prices. I can only get one replaced because it actually wore a hole through the leather. If the other cover wears through, I can get the other replaced. Everything is/would be replaced under warranty which is awesome.

I would check with an auto interior place near you. I can imagine having it repaired would cost half that. Those prices are insane.

Just do the one. No 2 covers will come from the same cow so any 2 will be just as likely to not be the perfect shade compared to one another. And there's no guarantee 2 parts warehouse covers were dyed in the same batch. But how many modern cars have seats with mismatched leather color? Sounds like he works on commission.

Any cover can have wrinkles if not installed right. It's best to have a real upholsterer do it and not a service tech.

I think I'm gonna have just the one seat cover replaced. The guy actually wasn't pushing me to get the other replaced, he thought the prices were ridiculous also. He was actually pretty cool, he printed out all this stuff for my car and history and stuff. Found out my car was a gm exec car

I've had my Recaro's for two years and my leather still looks brand new at the loop. There's an easy way to avoid the tear or rub marks. Don't pull the belt down across your chest. Pull it straight forward while holding the belt off the seat. Then pull down to buckle. Done.

I'll use that method, thank you. I also bought a leather seat belt pad to further prevent any damage. I bought it used, so the damage was done by previous owner.

Please post a pic of the new seat cover, someone said the loop has been changed, curious what it looks like. My dealer is going to get me a new cover too. Thank You!

My 15 came with the snap...

I use the cheap RECARO seat belt pad from Amazon to keep "the rubbing" at bay...

That's the same as my original one. Mine has ripped apart at the threads of the strap.
