Scratches and Swirls on Radio Display

Has anyone on this forum found a way to remove the scratches and swirls on the radio display? The interior of my car looks like the day I bought it, except for the radio screen. Someone has to know a trick to make it look new again.

I have used meguires PlastX on my radio face (the non my link version) and it worked pretty well at removing some of the minor scratches. Unfortunitly I have a large one that it won't get rid of

Mine was beginning to look like shit; (Not too bad) I bought iPad screen protectors (5 of them) for like 3 dollars off ebay...I cut one to the size/shape of the radio and its been on ever since. Keeps the radio from getting worse. I suggest it once you figure out how to remove the scratches

I used paste polish for the exterior of the car, and applied it just like wax. The swirls are gone now.

Great video. I'll go get some of that Meguiar's Plastix. Thanks!

No problem! Best part is that PlastX is only like $5.... can't beat the value

There are rubbing compounds and polishes you can buy for smartphones and "glossy finished" electronics at any big or small box electronic store (or even use the CD/DVD repair kits, just use a lint free cloth to rub in the compound). They diminish scratches quite a bit, but they are all imperfect unfortunately.

Typically the only thing you can do with those types of surfaces is buy a new plate. Usually they won't be OEM, but the Chinese made replacements are generally good. Amazon is your friend when it comes to hunting for parts like this.

I also take it you aren't talking about a MyLink screen correct? Otherwise you'd be SOL beyond using compounds.

I take a 3 inch orange DA pad and PlastX, and do light over lapping applications, starting side to side then up and down making sure to finish in an up and down direction. I make the application feathery lite, barely touching the surface letting the pad surface and product do the work. found that pushing to hard caused some minor scratches. Feathery lite did the trick!

Good advice! I'll try that this weekend when I wash my car.

After you get it polished/restored, install one of these: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...ght=radio+face

Edit: Someone previously posted the actual GM TSB for this issue, and they recommend polishing the scratches out using Meguire's PlastX: http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...64&postcount=3

Thought that was amusing...
