upgrades for the 6
OK, I got a question, why is it that the v8 is getting so much attention in regards to upgrades in comparision to the 6? I know someone is going to say, because the 6 is for people watching the price, but to me its got more to do with better technology of the 6 vs the 8 (plus the looks of the 6 are better in my opinion). It would be nice to see some headers upgrades for the 6 as well.

Since my car is still waaay in the future for me, I have not put much thought into mods yet. I have put some thought in a super/turbo charger, thats about it for now. Right now I'm just trying to secure muula.

- Xanthos P.S. - SOMEBODY will come out with some aftermarket headers, even if GMPP doesn't. Its probably too much to hope for, but I'd love some tuned length LTs from SLP.

I was told by my dealer if it is a GM part installed at the garage, the warranty is fine. Anything other than that and it gets very iffy very fast. But it might depend from dealer to dealer maybe?
And also maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm right, but my guess is it will be a bit before you see some real upgrades for the v6 cause it is a relatively new engine with lots of technology on it. I mean the 6.2 is pretty easy to upgrade because aside from fuel injection it is really basically the same big dumb motor that has been pushing around Camaros since they started rolling off the floor. I mean the v6 is making like 100 less horsepower off of 2.6 less litres of displacement, so it is a pretty amazing piece of work. |

The V8 has more potential vs the V6. Especially in regards to modifications with keeping the engine normally aspirated. Only real big gains you'll get with the V6 is if you convert to F.I. . I'm sure in a matter of time there will be a full range of bolt-ons for the V6 and maybe a few internals for the V6 and i'm sure there will be But typically performance is always more associated with the V8 largely over the V6. (in regards to domestic muscle cars) Granted hopefully in time we'll be seeing bolt-ons like CAI's, headers, high flow cats, cat-back exhaust, tunes by HP Tuners, etc... And also Forced Induction kits inlcuding roots type superchargers, and turbo kits... But it could take a year or two before you could start actually seeing any of these parts available for purchase. (Unless it's a GMPP part that is available upon release) The Cobalt SS/TC for example just came out spring of this year, It's been like 7-8 months and there isn't even a CAI available out there yet for it. It takes time...
