Great lakes area (off topic) camping

Hey everyone. I am from just outside of Chicago.

I am planning a bachelor party weekend. My cousin wants to do some fishing/drinking/hanging out with his close friends before the big day.

Since Alcohol is going to be there an Illinois state park is out of the question.

I had someone recommend edge o dells campgrounds but I dont see any water around for fishing on the camp grounds.

Any suggestions would be great.

area:
wisconsin (the dells or south)
illinois (Northern half)
indiana (northern)
Michigan (south west)

I thought you could camp at the Dunes? Just smuggle the beer past DNR.

Hey Steve, I believe Devils Lake in Wisconsin can have alcohol. The only ones I can find in Wisconsin that do not are the following:

At Big Foot Beach State Park
At Heritage Hill State Park
On observation towers
At the McMiller Sports Center in the Kettle Moraine State Forest--Southern Unit when the range is open to shooters.

Its $10 for our of state plates and $7 for in-state for the day. Heres a link to more info if interested in that location. (http://www.devilslakewisconsin.com/) The only downfall is for fishing as you would have to have a nonresident fishing license. I do believe that you can get a 1-day license which is $10 (http://dnr.wi.gov/ Just incase you wanted to see other optioins, its under the license and regulations). I hope this helped at least give you some ideas.

I go up to Devils Lake all the time. We bring a firewater container and fill it with something good to have fun at night. I think you can drink legally up there at devils lake but the firewater containers will work for you at any state park. We also go to the Mississippi palisades all the time.

The boulder climbing at Devils Lake is a good time and the hills at the palisades are cool to explore. They have some caves that are a good time to go back in.
