"Red cars like this get pulled over more often!"

You've all heard it. So I was wondering:

Do you think red muscle cars get pulled over more often because red is eye-catching, or is it a matter of personality? Are you just more likely to be speeding if you're the kind of personality who would buy a red muscle car? Or is the whole thing just a myth?

Your thoughts.

My personal experience:

I've owned an:

'80 blue Camaro
'92 white Corsica
'97 red Grand Am

The only ticket I've ever gotten was for speeding 10 miles over...in the white Corsica.

I've been told by police officers that red and black cars tend to give the illusion that you're speeding.

However, I'm not sure I've seen a red sports car get pulled. But then I'm also not sure I've seen a sports car get pulled. Mostly around here it's tourists and such that get pulled, in my experience.

My take would be, if you are in fact speeding, being bright red or yellow will certainly make you more noticeable to a cop. If your car blends in more with traffic, he/she may not notice. That's the only difference IMHO.

They have done studies. I wish I could find one. But In general people who buy red and black tend to have more agressive attitudes than people that buy blue specifically. So that may mean that in general people who drive red cars actually do drive more aggressively and therefore break the law more often...

Here's an article which sort of backs up what I thought I read, but it's not exactly it:http://www.associatedcontent.com/art...ur.html?cat=27

Actually it has to do with the spectral range in the color of the paint. Being that it is red and absorbs all other colors of the spectrum and reflects only red as well as infra-red much easier than any other color on a car. Making so that speed guns will pick up their speed with less requirement for 'pin point' accuracy when aiming the gun....

...if anyone is buying that i have some camaro stickers that add 25 hp that are also for sale

honestly though i think its a combination of personality and the fact that bright colors stick out amongst bland cars

More like "Cars like this get pulled over more often."

I'm a living example. I drove a Red '94 Camaro back in college and let me tell you, there's nothing more frustrating than being passed like you're standing still by a minivan, only to get pulled over and given a ticket for 75 in a 70, <60 seconds later.

So what, I'm a moving danger to the highway but the minivan doing 90 isn't?

I'm also the guy that got, fought in court and had to pay a ticket for 36 in a 35....

We've had almost every color car, the tickets seem to come only to my husband. I have only gotten one ticket and that was on an Air Force base. We have fast cars and slow trucks. I don't think it has much to do with the color, much more to do with the driver.
