What exactly are the advantages of staggered wheels on a street car? I know at the stripes you get as much meat on the abck for grip and as little on the front for weight, but if you're not concerned with racing what is the PRACTICALITY of getting larger width and/or diameter wheels/tires in the back (besides the obviously mean stance you get with taller back wheels)?

Also, besides the inability to rotate from froant to back, what are the cons of having larger diameter wheels in the rear? I ask because there are some Corvette replica's I'm looking at but the only 20" size they offer is 11" wide and I'd happy having them on all fours unless there's some issue with wheels that big on the front besides clearance.

On most cars its for the look and/or stance.

looks/stance. tho most people who get larger diameter wheels get smaller profile tires so the ride height is the same.

i keep my Z06 wheels on the car for dd'ing and fun on the street, but my stock wheels have a set of slicks for the track. and im working with a machinist to cut my front wheels in half and shorten the width of them to run skinnys so i can get a "stock" appearance at the track.

Maybe I'll get 20x11" wheels all around, then just slap on the thinnest tires that'll fit on the front and the fattest on the back... maybe 285 & 305

yeah I want as fat as I can go on the back without sticking out of the wheel wheels and maybe go up to a 255 on the front.

Al Oppenhieser said that without mods you could only fit around +5-10 mm of tire on the car.

I guess I could live with 285's... I really can't find any aftermarket black wheels I like anyway... guess I'll just stick with my original plan of powder coating the stock ones.

he said without mods. i think we can fit wider in there pretty easy with a little trunk triming
