Get a set of headphones. A bag of chips and a soda, sit back and start listening to all of the options and make your own choice.

I still don't quite get the question

There will be maybe 2.181481 hp gain for cat over axle. I originally bought an axle back because I put a hefty down payment on the car and was broke. I could afford an axle back because they were cost effective and greatly improved the sound. My feeling on catbacks are don't spend the money if you don't plan on getting at least headers and tune down the road.

If you just want an immediate improvement in sound, you can pick up a set of Borla S type for around 500.

Also...this was my rule of thumb from what I learned on this forum

Buy axle back if you want immediate sound improvement for much less cost...
Buy Borla S type if you want to do headers down the road
Buy Borla ATAK if you plan on staying with a cat back and CAI. ATAK + headers was way too much for me.
Buy Corsa if you want no drone.
Buy Flowmaster if you want that old school muscle car sound.

I cant afford cat back and headers either. i was just wondering if the axle back would do the same thing a cat back would do with stock headers... thanks for the help guys.. and is flowmaster even louder than the atak? i dont want the exhaust to be too loud, but i want a good rich throaty sound. does the s type sound good at idle and low rpm?

ATAK is the loudest I have come in contact with..

I had the borla S type axle back for awhile. It is not loud, will not bother your neighbors. But the tone is much improved, much deeper. Sounds good at start up and idle...

Like I said, flowmaster cat back can be found at around 700 bucks...one of the best bargains around. It is not louder than ATAK, just has more of muscle car crunch. Borla S sounds more like a very deep gurgle

thats cheap for cat back. 500 cheaper than atak. i like the sound of the atak when its at high rpm range. the flowmasters ive heard sound a little deeper than the atak. but for 500 less it sounds good to me. just wanna have that crisp sound while in higher rpm

I have the borla cat back with stock headers and a roto-fab cold air intake... sounds great... as for axle back I dont think the sound would be too much different the only difference with the rest would be the x pipe that the cat back gives you...

atak... should be good between 2000-2500 RPMs and if you want to be on the very safe side for that shift early (unless you have auto)
