Cool 2011 Camaro Convertible Named One of 10 Cars You Can Bet Will Be Classics by Wired

By Wired Magazine
http://www.wired.com/autopia/2010/11...8&viewall=true
Quote:
It's hard to know what cars will be future classics. Oh sure, some of them are obvious — damn near any exotic will certainly go up in value eventually, and it's hard to go wrong with a limited-edition ride like the Porsche 911 Sport Classic.

But what about the cars that aren't so obvious? What models sitting in showrooms might be the next 1966 Shelby Mustang GT350? The guys at Hagerty Insurance Agency think they know. Each year the company, which bills itself as "the world leader in collector car insurance," takes a look at everything in showrooms and compiles its "hot list" of 10 future collector cars you can buy now for less than $100,000.

"We have fun each year looking at which new vehicles embody the characteristics of collector cars, to help predict which ones might have classic appeal in 15 to 20 years," CEO McKeel Hagerty said in a statement. "The Hot List is our prediction for which cars manufactured this year will hold their value and consumer appeal long enough to one day be regarded as collectible."

Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible

The drop-top retro ride offers a 6.2-liter V-8 producing 426 horsepower. By the way, if you haven't read Dan Neil's review of the Camaro SS, do so now. It's the best car review ever.

I thought about the convertible, really did... But I felt that a 2011 2SS/RS with grey leather as two-tone factory color with a manual 6 factory Hurst shifter in Summt White would be a fine choice. Of course without sunroof or body mouldings, as pure to factory sleeper as possible with no striping. I think that it will be a most desirably featured car in the eyes of a future prospective collector car customer, I know I would be!

That's why I ordered one. It's being produced as I type this and I expect delivery by next week!

Any future prospective collectors can contact me in about 15 years or more!

The perma-grin effect pictured above by a good buddy giving me a ride in my Camaro!
Used 75 Camaro = $3500
Rolling restoration over 10 years = $5000
$5 of gas burned in 10 seconds = Priceless!

Nah i dont think this is exactly right, i think the 5th gen Camaro will be a classic to hold onto like the older muscle cars, it really seems to be a staple of this generation, but i think that will hold true for hard top and convertible alike.
I mean just look at the 3rd gens, they have some of the rarest convertibles Camaro has ever seen but they're not especially valuable or sought after they're just, convertibles.

Now, does anyone know why did they pick the 2011, is it just because of the convertible or was it anything else in particular? I think the 2010s, and hardtops in general will also be considered in the desireable catagory.

I think the 2010s will be the least desirable. Which is what I have.
I think the year they stopping putting in xtras like the speedometer in windshield, maybe a height adjustable passenger seat, and Whatever else they do during this gen,
that will be the year to own.
Whatever year is the most loaded.

Classics are determined by the generation that will be purchasing them. In our case, the children which are in love with our 'BumbleBees'
Yes our cars will be high fetching and sought after classics one day by these children.
