Amen. If anyone touches my car, either the police are getting called or I'm getting justice myself.

Yeah, well my first time was not the greatest reaction. I think I learned from it. My wife had a brand new car which we took to a local amusement park. When we came out to leave thee was a real old beater parked next to it with a sizable chunk of my wife's paint on its door. I got real mad and kicked the car a few times. My older brother said I should quit because no one could ever tell I was damaging it, which was the wrong thing to say. I picked up a real big rock and put it through the windshield. Did not feel better even though you'd think I would. So, I guess I learned my lesson.

Usually in a situation like that, either confront the guy, kick his A$$ or write down his car info, plate...etc. Then when he comes out inform him that this was a property damage incident/accident that you are claiming with your insurance and depending on where you live, it is the LAW that he is required to give you his information, insurance policy...etc. If he does not, call the cops. Usually the police will not take reports on property damage only (unless a hit and run) but they will assist in swapping information between the two owners/drivers.

I would have had a lot to say... I mean A LOT. but I wouldn't damage his car.
I would probably go as far as calling the cops if he didn't pay. |

It is sad that people don't respect others property that they work hard to keep nice. I probably would have lost my temper with this guy.

Call the cops and get his plate number. If you have a phone with a camaera, take a pic of the mark on your car and of his car. Then file an insurance claim and get his ins. to pay. Take the high road. Damaging someone else's car is not only juvenile, it's illegal. Take the high road and the legal one.
Sorry to hear about your car. I'd be upset too. But there are legal ways to handle these things. |
