Any takers of the Extended Warranty (GMPP)

My IOM 2SS/RS LS3 arrived last week and I couldn't be happier. I can't believe the attention it gets on the road and even at the dealership when I picked it up. My dealer in the Toronto area is pushing the Extended Warranty which ups the factory warranty on powertrain to 7 years (from 5) and the bumper to bumper to 6 years (from 3) for about $1700. It's not a true 'bumper to bumper' but it does cover pretty much anything major with the exception of wear and tear items like brake pads, wipers and part of the clutch assembly. The package is called GMPP--GM Protection Plus. The covered mileage remains the same at 60,000Kms--since it will be stored 5-6 mths a year the mileage isn't really the issue.

I searched the forums and didn't see much mention of owners picking up the Ext. warranty. Anyone with experience with this warranty package or advice to share?

I did. I'm one of the few guys on this site that wants to keep his Camaro 100% original. I have no plans to mod and I plan to have this car for a very long time.

If you don't buy it and wait GM will mail you a letter with a Discounted Extended Warranty option which is cheaper than 1700.

What I will do is watch the internet and see if there are any inherant problems before my warranty runs out. If there are none, I will keep my $1,700.00. I never buy these things unless I read about a specific recurring problem that GM will not address. You can buy the warranty at any time during the original warranty and the price is negotiable with the dealer, it is not hard and fast.

My car will be stored as well so I purchased a 6yr. 48,000 mi. bumper to bumper warranty directly from GM through my dealer for $800. You might want to check with your salesman.

I got a 7 yr/100000 miles bumper to bumper warranty, it also cover wheels and tires plus interior, such as cuts in the seat etc... plus a few free oil changes for 1549.00. It does have a 100.00 deduct after the original warranty goes out. To me it was worth it if I ever tear up one wheel and tire.
