Pontiac is dead, even though they were the third leading brand in the GM family. Saturn is toast, Hummer is still for sale, and Saab is a headache.
Holden will still make the Commodore regardless....you could always go down unda and get a right hand drive model! ~Brian |

I got a letter yesterday from pontiac letting me know the brand was terminated. As for the 2, I love the G8 GT it is my wifes daily driver, and I do not have my new camaro yet. I do not think that you can go wrong with either.

Camaro VS G8
If your wanting a family sedan...go with the Maxima...if not..stick with Camaro!! G8's (imo) suck! They are ugly, and they just dont appeal to me..well..no Pontiac does...not bashing...just stating my opinion..

Depends on your needs, if you kids, and you want everyday practicality, getting groceries, transporting people stuff like that go with the G8. I have one and it’s awesome. I like you want Camaro but I need ease of transporting people (kids), groceries etc. If you’re single no kids then go with Camaro. I love my G8 it's the best car I've ever owned plus it's roomy, comfortable, looks great and most of all it can hall ass!

I love the camaro.
I love the G8. Difference for me was space--I have four kids--I can't take them all somewhere in a Camaro. Wish GM did the back seat like the Challenger. Perhaps when the G8 is paid, I will pick up a Camaro.

To me, the G8 is more of a classy car. The Camaro is more of a badass track car. G8's have much more space, but they won't get as much attention as the Camaro will. So I think the question would come down to, do you want a classy roomy car that gets you to work in style, or a badass track car that gets you girls wherever you go
BTW, I love G8's and will be getting one of the maroons or ABM look-alikes (not sure of the color names for that car) if they drop in price around here after Pontiac is gone. |

The G8 does look pretty inviting... you can probably get one below invoice and get a $3500 cash incentive on top of that, making it a better deal than the Camaro right now. If I didn't have my heart set on a Camaro, I'd buy one...

Let me say ive been down this road more then u could imagine. I looked at everything and i mean everything that had 2 or 4 doors and was fun/cool to drive and under 40k. The main criteria was that it had to be rear wheel drive. I have a stack of brochure's coming out the wazoo of what ive taken out. For sedan it came down to these srt8 charger, cts caddy and pontiac g8. For sports cars there are a lot of choice's but came to these 4 2010 mustang, challenger, camaro, genesis coupe. In the end i went with my heart not my head i got the camaro. If i bought anything else every time i would see a camaro it would kill me that i didnt buy it. I have 3 kids so when we all go out we use the suv. I say if its your secondary car not your primary get your camaro u wont regret it.

If you have or are expecting a family in a few years you cant go for the Camaro. You have to get a G8. There is just so much room in the G8, you can comfortably fit 4-5 adults in the G8. It looks like 3 comfortably, 4 uncomfortably in a Camaro.
And the main thing is if you want a G8, you cant wait! My brother has a G8. I however went with the Camaro.

I picked up my G8 GT w/ Premium pkg, and sports pkg. for 26,100 ......sticker was over 33K.
I signed up because the people seem to be very accepting and approving of the G8 GT. Not that I need to surround myself with people who agree with me, but life is to short to argue with people all the time. It is good to see that the New Camaro guys respect the G8 GT for what it is. Definitely not a comparison vehicle for the Camaro. But if you want American RWD but need more space/ 4 doors. This is your best option (GXP is the closest comparison). ________ M44 Last edited by jrc1122; 03-11-2011 at 09:57 PM. |

The G8 & the Camaro are 2 different animals
The G8 is a great car when you need the additional room. I bought an 09 G8 GT back in November and the car has been troublefree and a blast to drive. The car really shines when the pace picks up or on an interstate. As for the new Camaro I still have not had the chance to drive one. I am going to have some warranty work done tomorrow and if they have a new Camaro I will be able to give you my road test report. I tracked a Challenger at Daytona for a few hrs 2 weeks ago and have been wanting to see and feel the difference first hand of these 2 modern day musclecars. |
