Camaro Hatchback?

How many of you think the Camaro should have been a hatchback as it was in recent years. Im not talking about a different looking camaro just a cargo area where the trunk and rear glass lift up together. It would create a cool open cockpit like they had in the last 2 previous gens and it would give the appearance of a more usable cargo area. Not complaining, I just thought it might be fun to think about. Any thoughts? or anyone wanting to create a better shop or image ?

I actually prefer the trunk, gives the car cleaner lines.

Eh; honestly, I'm tired of the hatchback. But hey - to each his own

The LOOK of the car would be exactly the SAME except there would be a cut in the roof above the rear glass..... In my mind anyway.

I like the trunk. Never really liked the hatchback. Plus the "69" didn't have a hatchback.

Why should it matter if the 69 had a hatchback? This is 2009. If you only want to go by what the 1969 model was, go buy a 1969 model and call it a day. That said, I think the trunk offers rigidity and security benefits (though I'm just guessing on the rigidity thing. Any engineer may feel free to correct me) but the small trunk opening is a bit disappointing. The setup illustrated here seems to work fairly well with the Scion tC, so I think it is a pretty good idea.

It would weaken the structure. since we're going for handling this time around I'll take the trunk.

'69 matters because the 5th Gen Camaro is supposed to be a modern interpretation of that car.

In this case, absolutely I would have preferred a hatch. Nice sketch of how it would work too.

That's what gave Camaro it's uniqueness the past few generations, midsize cars rarely have this feature but even the fifth gen's design looks like it would take to a hatch feature well. Oh well...

Key word in this statement Is..."INTERPRETATION"

So with that.... HIS interpretation of a 2010 CAMARO is with a hatch..

i wouldn't mind the hatchback... the stereo would be a lot louder with some subs in the back.
