Question Headers question?

If I were to install JBA shorty headers would that void my warranty? I've heard mixed responses on this. I just want to know because if I'm losing my warranty, then I'll probably just go with OBX's

Oh lord... Just assume it does. Does that change whether or not you get them?

Basically, if you have issues caused by the headers, then yes that part will not be covered. But your entire warranty is not toast by any means.

When you mod, its a risk you take on.

Headers are part of your exhaust setup. Just get what u want. Powertrain warranty will be fine. None of your exhaust will be.

It's going to depend a lot on the dealer you take it to for warranty work. If they say that extra 15(?)hp is what blew your clutch so your powertrain warranty is void you need to seek out a more mod-friendly dealer. I suggest getting to know the service manager at the dealership, and be prepared one way or the other. Some of the reasons the v8 guys were given for refusing warranty work would seem ridiculous.

Well I actually am friends with the service manager he has a ws6 that's fairly quick and we usually go to the track with a few other guys but, they installed my current mods for free.. The guy who I bought my car from though keeps saying the only thing I can do is exhaust / intake, he said anything past the cats will kill my warranty.

I would talk with the service manager since you are friends he carries more weight than the salesman.

on a side note, if you get JBA shorties or long tubes, you'll get a CEL. which means you'll probably want to tune that out. In which case, you'll lose your powertrain warranty.

And then we can get into the fact that there's a good chance GM can't see that you had a custom tune on your car if you flash back to stock tune before any warranty work. But do we really want to get into that....AGAIN? lol

So you just want to keep your warranty for 8 more months.. get the LT headers and don't tune. Your drivetrain warranty will be fine but you will have a CEL light on all the time.
