So I'm an idiot

Like, a complete novice moron. I have no idea what I'm doing. I've always thought Camaros looked cool (4th gen notwithstanding), so I bought one.

Caught a flat when I ran over some insidious metal thing, and took the car to a tire place before it leaked out, no harm done. But they tell me that I need the key for my wheel lock. I do not have this. They describe it to me, and I know it to be what I thought was a spare lugnut when I bought the care. No idea where it is, or if I even still have it. The salesman at the time told me it was probably a second spare key (it was sealed in a little envelope.)

So I have two questions:

1. What's my play as far as getting GM to give me another one?

2. Anything else I need to know? (lol)

It should be in the glove box, along with the four lug nuts that were removed to install the locking ones!

I used to lose my wheel lock key back when I had my '75 Camaro. Back then I had to use a old socket that I would hammer on to the wheel lock to remove it. If you can't get a replacement key this may work. It will ruin your socket though. Good luck.

Did you buy the car new?? If used, maybe the dealer can get a hold of the seller and see if he has the key?? I had a similar problem and got the tire off by drilling out the wheel stud. start with a small drill in the center, then keep increasing the size.

This is how it was with mine. When I went to put on my new wheels it completely slipped my mind that they were there too.

Mine was stock, so yes.

The other four are in the glove box, but they key is not- it was handed to me in an envelope and the space for it with the other lugs is empty. Like I said, being a dummy, I didn't know what it was.

The guy at the tire place used a socket and hammer to remove the lock (for $35), but told me he had managed not to damage it and that once I found the key I could replace it.

The car is overdue for its first service (which is fine because my oil is at 60%, right?), so when I take it in for that I guess I'll ask about getting a new key.

Thanks for the responses guys.

I have a 14. No lugnut lock.
Not standard. At least not on a 2SS.

I was handed the plastic clamshell package they put the 4 standard nuts in after they replaced them with locking nuts. I have to assume in the centre is the "key nut" ? I will have to go check the glove box now.
