Clutch Petition! Lets see how many there are?

If you have had any clutch problems please post name and Vin# lets do last eight digits. I know some people might not want there whole Vin on there. Maybe specify problem anything to do with the whole hydrolic system like- Clutch stuck once or twice, leaking master/clutch cylinder cap, clutch smell you get the idea. Lets see how many of us there are out there and print this off and take it to the dealer and higher up.

Jacob vin#A9167595. I have had clutch sticking issues, notchy shifting, different clutch pedal engagement almost all the time, difficult shifting into second gear at high rpms, shifter hesitant to go in while downshifting.

Tyler VIN A9115105. Clutch smell under normal driving, clutch pedal sticking, engagement point moving, clutch chatter. Clutch replaced under warranty, same problem exists.

VIN: 2G1FT1EW8A9200595

1. Herky Jerky feeling accelerating when cold (1st & 2nd gears), usually goes away after a minute or two.
2. Herky Jerky feeling decelerating in lower gears (1st ,2nd & sometimes 3rd) all the time.
3. Clutch Pedal stuck 2 times already, but not since they replaced the leaking master/clutch cylinder cap.
4. Clutch engagement is sporadic at best and never feels fully engaged.

With these problems I have, as I seem them to be problems, I don’t really get any burnt clutch smell.

I would hate to say it, but if you are going to talk about the clutch of a car and how bad it is. Then I really think you need to add a third dimension into your stats. Something along the lines of "Experience with a manual Transmission" comes to mind.

Camaro-Corvette I personally have had 4 other cars with a manual transmission and have never had a problem like this. Funny that you would make an accusation about driver error when a stuck clutch has nothing to do with driver error and everything to do with hydrolic issues. What controls the clutch pedal? How about pressure and the slave cylinder, neither of which has anything to do with the driver. Thanks anyway for your opinion, but this is for those who are seriously experiencing clutch problems due to manufacturer defects.

Dropped off at the dealer yesterday. Waiting to see if GM comes through.

Clutch assembly/slave/synchro problem.....
  • Clutch engagement is inconsistent, mostly engages way at the top of clutch pedal travel, which makes it feel like it’s not applying enough pressure.
  • Random burning clutch odor during normal and "spirited" driving.(not aggresive/abusive/competative driving)
  • Clutch isn't fully disengaging between shifts, especially between 1st and 2nd because it feels very notchy/binding and occaisionally grinds during “spirited” driving. (Possibly a bad synchro.)
  • Clutch chatter
  • No in between clutch engagement at times.......just travel, travel, travel, engagement. (jerky)

*********-A9179675 Pedal stuck twice already, once under moderate acceleration(literally smoked the hell out of it), Highly inconsistent pedal travel/clutch engagement. Nearly impossible to start on an incline. Working(fighting) with GM specialist as we speak. Been driving manual for 15 years....NOT driver error!

INCONSISTENT engagement...will release inches from the floor or an inch from where it sits normally. I have found that pumping the clutch in neutral when the release is inches from the floor causes the release point to change.

I get the burned clutch smell if the a/c is on and I shift anywhere between 3k and 4k rpms

No sticking to date

A9169639.. Clutch lets out at the very top everytime. Makes it hard to take off from a stop. Also had the hydraulic line leaking at 300 miles which was replaced at the dealer. I currently own two 4th gens with the 6 speed manual's and they dont have these issues.

good job everyone, this is what we need! # A9166404, where do i start, Transmission had main input bearing go out at 300 miles (probly had something to do with the clutch sysem i would assume). Got a whole new trans over that deal. Cutch has been inconsistant since day one on engagement point, anywhere from right off the floor to halfway up. Clutch has stuck halfway up 2 times. Have had burning clutch smell. Grinds on a high rpm 1 to 2 shift almost always, but everyonce in a while it will go in. Had it grind really bad downshifting to 2 from 3, normal driving. Shifting feels really notchy from 1 to 2 all the time, even on slow normal take offs.
KEEPEM COMING GUYS! I think i see a patten here.
