Head Units - Too many choices!

So, I'm going to be installing a different stereo - with DVD/Nav. Problem is there are way too many choices out there! I'm looking for some input/advice on which once is the best to go with.

The ones i have seen so far:
Kenwood DNX-9990HD
Alpine INA-W910
Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH

Has anyone installed some of the above?

Thanks in advance

I have a DNX-6990HD in my Cruze (same as 9990HD, just with a knob). Don't get it for now. It forgets settings and Nav Favorites, etc, even after 3 updates. I would pick up the Pioneer or Alpine. Now, you're down to 2 choices!

I have the Pioneer and love it. No problems and everything works great. I have the sub box from Chevy that I paid around $1000.00 for if anyone is interested I'm selling it because I'm putting custom boxes in with 12" subs. Make me a offer. I can ship it. Go with the Pioneer buddy. I looked at so many before I decided to get it. Good luck!!!

Im looking at the Pioneer AVH-P8400BH and adding Nav to it. After viewing both this unit and the AVIC-Z140BH I prefer the operating system on the P8400BH and then add Nav. Just personal preference.

You must have something installed wrong as we have sold over 150 6990 units this year and have not had one single issue with anything like your saying.

I would send it into Kenwood for warranty or call Kenwood tech support. As long as you bought it from an authorized dealer its fully covered for issues.

Agreed. We've not seen any major issues as mentioned with the Kenwood 2012 models either.

Personally, I like the user interface and navigation system on the Alpine receivers. You mentioned the INA-W910BT from last year, but you may also want to consider the new INE-S920HD.

I have the z140, all features working well. like that it includes Traffic in the Nav app and HD Radio. I also have an XM tuner working with it.

That not what I've heard from Kenwood. I've had the problem since I first got it and new firmware updates don't fix the issue. I thought 1.5 fixed it, but then it happened again. There are quite a few people having this particular issue:

Eric,

We have engineering working on this issue as we speak , hope to have a answer in the near future.

Thanks Rory

Which do you guys think is the best nav system? I'm not too impressed with some of the interfaces I see, they are very laggy and the most important feature to me is navigation being as smooth as possible (especially with the follow-me feature, which I'm assuming all have). I had a hard time finding any videos of people using the nav, however I did find one of the the INA W910 and was not impressed (refresh rate on the nav was about half a second). Can anyone speak from experience or does anyone have a video of some of the available head units showing navigation?

80% of the time using it will consist of using the follow-me feature, a laggy display would be very distracting.
