Always wanted a 3rd gen Camaro or Firebird. I'll just keep looking till I find the right car for me, preferably a 5 speed non T top car.

Yeah, I knew what you meant. I think the tq. Level of the 5.7l was too much.
Funny that gm never even tried to put it behind the 5.7l but did put the zf on the 25 th anniversary 270hp car that was never built.

it's more rare with those options...

I love it I used to have an '87 TPI IROC if I had the money....

I will say that whoever made the comment about the weak five speeds in those cars is VERY correct... I had issues and so did my ex who had an 89...

The L98 was definitely available with factory t-tops from 1987 through 1989, and they weren't particularly rare either. Starting in 1990, t-tops were no longer a factory option with the 5.7. The Borg Warner T-5 had a reputation for having a very weak third gear. Even the "World Class" T-5s used in the later cars (I believe from 1988 up) weren't much better.

I have owned 12 third gen camaros and by the sounds of it I wouldn't give him 3k, there was no5 speed behind the 5.7 and I had an 87 5.7 t-top and an 88 5.7 t-top so not too sure on rarity of them lol. Seems to be if you want a third gen look around Idaho Utah area, picked up my 88 with 45k miles on it for 2000. Deals like that are all over around here!

Uggh. A carbed 305 5 spd. Only way that could be worse is if it were an automatic. Car would great if it was a 305tpi 5spd.

Whenever I look at the '87-92 iroc/z28s I am always seeing cars without 4 wheel disc brakes or the 3.08 and not 3.45s. The later cars often have 15" wheels and drum brakes.
And they almost always have tops, which I don't want.
I guess my special ordered '87 was rarer than I thought.

Yeah they definitely made em. My buddy had a white one. We cruised around many summers in that back in the day.

I think it was more on the Trans Am side that it was harder to get the 5.7 with the T-tops IIRC.

Unless somebody changed the engine out it would have a 5.0 (305).
Incorrect, I had a 1988 IROC with T-tops and a 5.7 350. Fun car but tops leak like a son of bitch
