Axle Seal
So, I'm needing help trying to figure out why I found an o ring on one side of the differential and not the other. Recently I dropped the cradle to swap out the rear diff bushings (that was fun), and when I was putting in the drivers side axle, I noticed an o ring inside of the differential...I must have pushed it inside of the diff when I stuck a rag in there to keep dirt from getting the diff. After I had it all back together I thought to myself, I dont remember seeing an o ring on the passenger side. So I took the passenger axle out and there was no o ring . So long story short, I have an o ring on one side and not the other

Was it an o-ring or a really tightly wound spring?
There is a spring on the inside of the seal to keep the seal tight on the axle stub. It kinda looks like an o-ring

Anything else on this? My axle came out with that o ring you mentioned but I don't know where it could be from
