ZL1 Spoiler on 2010 SS

I know this has been covered before, but just looking for some clarity. Has anyone used the ZL1 spoiler on a 2010 SS and used the third brake light in the spoiler? I have only seen applications where the 3 holes were capped off or entire trunk re-done and painted. Why not just use the third light in the spoiler? Any help here would be much appreciated.

Not on a SS but my 2LT/RS (Same trunk) 3rd brake light working (Gen5DYI harness). I cut both of the plastic posts off and one of the others mounted to my factory holes (I did have to drill a new hole for the 3rd brake light). Since my 2010 suffered from the spoiler paint chip issue the deck lid was re-painted the dealership filled in the holes left by the OEM spoiler.

Thanks for the feed back…now to remove my factory spoiler to see if the trunk is chipped, last time I had it off it was ok. I like your car, pretty much the look I am after. What diffuser do you have?

Interested in doing this myself, Are you using an actual ZL1 spoiler, the E-bay one etc..??
01pewterZ28 did you purchase a ZL1 spoiler and then the harness from Gen5DYI, or did you just purchase everything from Gen5DIY.

Thanks.. Mind me asking total cost of this upgrade?

If the car had a factory spoiler you have to cap off the 3 remaining holes no matter what unless you get them capped or the deck lid repainted

With all these ZL1 spoilers on Ebay, are any of them designed to fit into the stock holes for the standard SS spoiler? I can't imagine many people with a ZL1 are looking on ebay for another spoiler.
