copo Camaro

looking for the best approach into building a strip only copo style Camaro.

could purchase a v6 auto hard top car for a good price or could also look for a v8 flood car.

build it once and right for the right price, need a game plan here... and help!

Need some proper input, thank you in advance

N.A. or supercharged, not sure yet

Steven

But you're wanting a street-legal (registered) version, right??? Start by getting one of the COPO build books and going from there. Lots of very good insight on what they do to make the COPO in that book. Then just open your checkbook.........VERY WIDE.......and let the fun begin!!!!

Well, you might consider starting fresh and buying a "Body-in-White" and going from there. That's how the COPO's start out!!!

The Book will help you either way....it is GM Part Number 88958767

Starting off with a V6 is 50 steps backwards and spend twice as much as getting a V8. Do you have a budget in mind? I am slowly going to do the same thing but I am taking baby steps

High 9s are certainly achievable for an SS with off the shelf mods.
Low 9s really need significant changes that are closer to the COPO design. Then it would probably be cheaper to start with a v6, since you would need a seat, windows, door latches, etc and tires to roll it around the shop until it goes to the chassis shop for suspension, cage, rear housing, parachutes, etc.

At some point the car loses its soul.

Definitely start with a body in white. We have pretty much tore into our project [snowball] starting with an SS and with hindsight we see how much easier it would have been to start with a BIW. Only thing is theres no VIN, but if you dont care, BIW all the way. And the COPO build book will be your most valuable asset.
