Should I get my stripes aftermarket?
I'm pretty sure I want to stick with my order of the black Camaro, although I like the silver as well. I ordered mine with white rally stripes, but I'm starting to 2nd guess my choice.
Maybe I should cancel the stripes, and decide after I get the car? |

I've been an advocate of this idea. I would if I were you. Gives you more time to see some stripes in person. If you can do it, you will love it if their painted on. I just don't know if vynil white will look that good or weather well?
Unless you weren't thinking white. |

#1 do you actually like the short stripes? i'm sure you will be able to get long ones aftermarket.
#2 are you worried about being code perfect a bazillion years from now? some folks are and i understand that. #3 what does your gut tell ya? |

Here's another thing to take into account. If you go aftermarket they will not be covered by GM's warranty and depending on your insurance company they may not be covered as most companies I've seen will not pay to repair or replace aftermarket pieces. So if you are in a wreak or anything happens and you have to repair or replace them, it's done at your expense. If you go with aftermarket vinyl you can most likely get a warranty against defects and premature wear but you would still be stuck with the bill if they needed replacing due to a wreak or some other event.

I ordered a 2ss red jewel and I am getting black strips. I had a 2005 mustang with that same combo and it looked great. Lots of complements

IMHO I'd go with aftermarket, they're less expensive.Some-where here on the forum there are pics of a IOM Camaro with white stripes, and close-up pics of those stripes and it showed the factory stripes were quite thick, and the pics shown that the stripes were begining to "chip" off already.
I plan on getting the Hockey stripes for my Camaro, but don't want the "hood" stripes,so getting aftermarket stripes is my only option.Cause you can't delete the hood stripes when ordered from the factory.GM accesories website is where ya need to go if you want aftermarket factory stripes.I'm hoping the material they use is vinyl Another thing to think about is GM will only allow you to order certain colors of stripes depending on the color you chose when you order, not with aftermarket. You can choose what ever color stripes you want for your Camaro.How-ever only black, silver, white, gray is avaliable now,but i'm sure their will be other colors avaliable in the near future.(fingers crossed) |

I wouldnt stress too much about the stripes, you dont like them then just peel them off and add new ones.

I'd get the black with white stripes, would look awesome. I'm going to get Victory Red with white stripes. Those color combos were always my favorite on 1st gens.

I've got IOM with black rally stripes but before my order was placed with GM I had the dealer take off the stripe package. I don't like the shape of the stripes, the fact that they are curved as they approach the front of the hood, and I also think the stripes look better extending beyond the hood onto the front bumper. I also am worried about the decals peeling off over time. I'm getting mine pained aftermarket.
