Be careful when discussing pricing

FYI....Factory MSRP, Window Sticker, MSRP,Factory Invoice, Dealer Invoice.....make absolutely sure both parties know exactly what each means. MSRP and Factory MSRP can be two different things. I've looked up Factory MSRP on the GM website before on a truck and gone to the dealership and looked at the exact same truck and the prices haven't been the same. Some dealers add to the Factory MSRP and make a new window sticker to show the new MSRP. I doubt its legal, but I have seen it. I've also seen doctored window stickers and Invoices. I caught a local Large Chevy dealership here in Houston playing the "I'll show you my invoice" price game. Turned out they weren't showing the actual factory invoice, but a doctored up Dealer Invoice to make you think they were selling it to you at thier cost. Watch out for the double destination charges also. Its included in the Factory MSRP, but some dealers charge you again when they add in the fees on the sales contract.
Just a heads up.

Good point. I'm asking for my dealer to send me everything in writing this evening.

This is great advice. Mods should make this a sticky. Ordering can be a nightmare for a customer and a salesperson. The customer should do everything possible to protect his or her interests. That means that they should learn the vocabulary, and get the salesperson to put the appropriate vocabulary in writing.

There's always those 'soundproofing, detailing, etc.' details to watch for. When you go in...Look at their cars, see what the window sticker shows.

Just a heads up.

Making a new sticker is against the law, there can be an add on sticker seperate from the factory, but making a new sticker to make something look like it came from the factory is not legal... My dealer told me that any dealer that does that is violating federal law. the factory sticker is just that, it is provided by the factory by law showing the MSRP, what you are saying cannot be even be called MSRP because it is a DEALER PRICE. MSRP IS THE MANUFACTURER SUGGESTED RETAIL PRICE..

Sometimes there will be price differences between MSRP on the sticker and what you get on line because of price increases or decreased made by the factory. Still these changes should not allow them to change the factory sticker.. but they can show a price change as an add on sticker.

Is there a map we can post that shows the most expensive regions of the US? This might help some members decide where to shop.

They can add via an addendum...but they CAN NOT adjust the monroney sticker from the factory.

exactly....not sure all dealers have stopped doing it though. But it doesn't hurt to be aware of it in case some are still trying to get away with it.

I'm sure that is true. Although I have entered different zip codes from around the country and still got the same price on the Chevy build.

Head, I loved your comment last night. You said 'Buy it in Miami and float it back to Cuba'. That will be a classic.

That would be for regional rebates and transportation fees wouldn't it?

I have a question about the destination charges. It is included in the MSRP, but if I am getting charged invoice, if they add destination onto that is that me being double charged for destination?

It's always been my understanding that Invoice doesn't include destination charge and prep fees.
