On another note, I feel bad for these people holding them in mint condition. I'm all for people collecting cars but collecting as an investment is a dumb idea. So let's tie up $35,000 in a car for 40 years to make $10,000. Invest that same money in an account that yields 5% and do the math.
Who knows, feels more like a toss up. Albeit most sensible people will tell you that a car is a terrible investment.

While most cars are not good investments, if you're looking to sell them, there are some that are. My last was a 2002 Camaro SS Limited Edition (LE), #1242 of 3,369. She was a daily driver and I drove her for six years. She had 85,000 miles on her when I traded her in on the Pace. $25,000 trade in value, that was in Jan 2011. I suspect the Pace's value will hold it's own and likely increase as well. BUT, that is not why I bought her. I like the car.

While I am not concerned with voiding warranty (I've added LT and full exhaust, TB and Tune), I won't do any MODs I can't undo in under 6 hrs in the garage.

Why? Toruk is #44 of only 294 produced. She's a collector car and before anyone says it out loud, I drive her daily, unless the weather is going to be bad. Not because I'm scared of getting her dirty, I just don't trust the abilities, or common sense, of the other drivers on the road.

Only one more edition to do in the compartment is to lay two CF panels down the sides, along the fenders, to tie the nose piece together.

* Sigs are from the driver's of the 2010 Indy 500. Top left is Mario Andretti and top right is Mike Lallier, owner of Reed Lallier Chevrolet (The car was shipped to him - 1 of 189 dealerships).

Are you so short sighted that you can't imagine electric car technology advancing to the point that it replaces gas powered cars in 40 years. Sure old farts like you will prefer your gas powered cars but the majority of the public will have moved on. Where will you get gas and service from when most of the places that services the types of cars are no longer around? You probably still can't understand why casette walkmans are no longer hot.

Said with a Stan Lee voice: "With great HP comes more maintenance and fixes." I've had 11 second cars that we used to bracket race every weekend. They were also my DD's. Nothing but a money pit and a snowball effect for more performance: "I just gotta hit 12's.... 11's... 10's... ".

I can't tell you how much total I spent modding and fixing with no return other than having fun. it was a very expensive fun. Our SS will stay show room stock.

Sure, I can imagine electric car technology advancing. I expect it.

What I cannot imagine is electric cars being all that much fun to drive. Is your tunnel vision so tightly stopped down that you can't see fun as being one of the more important aspects of car ownership?

Well, to you 65 probably is old. You'll get here some day (the deity of your choice willing and the creek don't rise).

Along the way, you might even find a few things or even a mindset that you'll hang onto even after succeding generations proclaim them to be obsolete without having basis in either experience or wisdom.

Oh, and just for you, I dug up my FM/cassette Walkman, model F1 (circa 1982, google it), threw 4 AA batteries in it, plugged in some earphones, and listened to it for a minute or so.

Whippersnappers . . .

You're not being an ass....but liek others have said production numbers wont matter that much. Im saying a 2010 in 2050, 40 years from now...do I think ill have it then, very unlikely. A 93 is only 20 years old, so that comparison is not valid. What I think will drive this is its the revival of the camaro, to look retro, and between 2010-2050, we'll probably see cars as we know it change dramatically for fuel efficiency and new technology, making this car something special. I definatley believe that this car, along with the Challanger will represent a revival of muscle cars right before a recession that killed them off and will continue to change the way people buy cars in the next decades.

No, they might not, and if you think really hard you would realize that in and of itself would drive the value of this car UP.

5% is easy. I think my return last year on my stocks was closer to 10%. 9.7 or something. rising stock prices is the one upside to Bernanke printing 60 billion dollars a month and then loaning it to the treasury.
