I am just glad somebody cut up the stock mufflers so we could see how they are designed inside. Maybe there is another picture out there somewhere but this is the first I have seen.

Just by looking at them, I am suprised the stock design kills so much sound. They are definently straight through, so a good design from GM on that aspect.

This is what someone else paid........

Ended going with the muffler delete.
Just drove the car. It sounds great. And only $170 bucks. Can't beat it.

I think it's a great idea you had. Was there "fiberglas packing" of some kind inside the cans, or just baffled and empty?

There was like 1/2 inch thick steel wool like packing wrapped around the holes closest to the tailpipe. Not really packing, im really surprised how much louder it got given how straight through it is. Also I didnt get any final pics, i did alot more griding and then used rust preventive black paint to paint from where the muffler started to the tip, including the mounts, so you see nothing under the car. It doesnt look as terrible as you would think.

Really not that loud. Its a bit loud on startup, and if you rev it its loud. At wide open throttle it is louder but not insanely loud, while cruising its barely louder than stock.

Nice to inside the mufflers. No wonder why aftermarket mufflers dont gain much.

I really like the finished pic, but would still like to see the tips left polished.
