Sport mode.

Anyone here driver their SS in sport mode not using the paddle shifters? I tried just doing that today and shifts seemed firmer and less afm feedback. Any drawbacks to this? BTW I did the fuse pull last night, and as many have said; I noticed a big difference in performance just by doing this simple act. More sop performance, and much less bog with the AFM kicking in and out. Thanks in advance...

All the time and agree, the shifts seem firmer & less AFM. The only down side I've seen is I've seen a little less MPG (in town)... but I didn't buy it for gas mileage & it's more fun, especially when I decide to use the paddles

This is the correct answer. If the thread ended here, you are fully informed.

Add the following mods: CAI, ported throttle body, headers and custom exhaust with or without tune. Then it is much more fun!!!!!

I've programmed my sport mode on both my SS and CTS-V to only upshift 1 gear up from the ideal acceleration gear, and to downshift super aggressively while slowing down - like, you can hear and feel the downshifting, it happens if the revs drop below 2500rpm. Keeps me right at the torque spot for light acceleration and one shift away from the power band if I need to go. It's pretty fun this way!

If you think sport mode is fun now, have a tuner who knows what they're doing tune a "wife mode" for D and then have sport mode be wild. My car will now bark the tires at 60 mph at my 2-3 shift while still driving similar to stock in D (my wife still complains that D is firmer than before).

For some reason, known only to me and my shrink, "sport mode" in my Camaro puts me in "personal maniac mode". Therefore, I avoid it unless I want to be a maniac for awhile (once or twice a week).

I used to drive in Sport Mode (w/ Range device to kill AFM) all the time before I got my headers and SCT tune. It was great. Now, with my tune, no more AFM and driving in Drive Mode feels like Sport Mode used to. Sport Mode now feels like your neck might snap.

Sounds like we might have used the same tuner

I installed the Diablosport i2 91 octane tune with AFM disabled & it's quite a pleasant difference.

I have a Range device that keeps it in 8 cylinder mode. It works great!! Doesn't void the warranty. I just had my car tuned and no longer need it. I'm trying to sell it now.
