2014 1LE with comes with 305s on the rear ?

Hi all! I traded my 2012 2ss in for a 2014 1LE. I bought it and by the time we got it home it was dark. So as we put the car in the garage and were covering it, I looked at the tires and they are 305s on the rear. The normal 285s up front. Did I accidently get ZL1 rims and tires from the factory? The car is brand new and had 6 miles on it when we got it. The tires look great! I will be getting 305s on my white 1LE. Anyway I was wondering if anybody else has 305s on their 1LE from the factory. I will post pics later of the car and tires.

1 member a while back had 1 305 on the rear and the rest were 285s. Factory goof for sure.

mine are 285s like they are supposed to be. must be a f--- up by the factory but the rim size is the same 20x11 as the ZL1, so only the tires are the wrong size. The handling package uses the square tires for a reason so if you track with those tires you will get more understeer

You mention you are going to change the tire set up on the 2013. Are you not concerned that the handling of the car will be jeopardized with the larger tire? It seems that GM made a decision on the wheel tire combo of the 1LE to maximize handling. Why would be the benefit in changing that. I would have thought you would be taking the new car back to get the tires changed.

my 13 has 285's all around I sold them to a member her and replaced them with the same size but I am running the Michelian pilot A/S 3's because she is my DD and I live in ohio so the f1 super car tires wont cut it.

The Dealership put one 305 series on my 2014 1LE. I liked the look better of the 305 so I had them replace the other side also.
I will never race the car so I didn't care about the square set up.

I do more car shows than track events. I would also buy two new rims to keep as spares just in case I see any track duty.

Does anyone know the real answer why they put the 285's instead of the 305's in the back for the 1LE?
(i thought it was because its cheaper to go with a smaller tire. is it because the ZL1 is more $$$ so they put a bigger tire?)

Better track capabilities.

When touring or tracking your car, they're believed to handle better if all the tires have the same track width. Hence the 285's all the way around on a 1LE. I personally have 305's on the back, because I'll probably never track my car, and I like the "meaty" look.

Less tire in the rear gives a more but neutral rotation in the turns.
