I do love the fact that today you can build big power without ever going inside of the motor. It still amazes me to see some of the #s posted on here from mods. |

7900 miles, no oil consumption.
first change 2500 mikes second change 6800 miles to Pennsoil Platinum synthetic. Broke the car in per GM, did not baby it, just drove normal, 65-70 on freeway and not more then 4000 rpm. Now rev to 4000-5000 on occation and if out on weekend hit to 6500 once or twice. Motor is strong!! P.S. Motor is built like the ls engines, look at the specs and design data. This is no grocery getter v6! |

My 1LS turned a 9.09 in the 1/8th on the factory 18" all seasons with nearly 48,000 miles on it. These V6s are awesome.
UP DATE: 48,800 miles on the factory tires, 8.92 in the 1/8th. Last edited by PieNsky; 10-24-2010 at 09:27 PM. |

Just checked my OIL with 38% oil life left in it and it was OK. This was the first time I checked it after the OIL change. Could it be related to driving habits? Just a thought.

Does this apply to ALL V6s, or just auto or just manual trannys? :(

checked the car 3x over the past two weeks, with some hard driving. Nothing so far. I think it pertains to all V6 models

I changed my oil yesterday. Had almost 6000 miles on this oil. When pouring it back into a container for recycling, I came up about a half quart short. Not bad for 6000 miles.

Been checking my oil and all's well. Seems to me the OP has one of those "1 in 50,000" problem cars. Time will tell.

I checked mine after reading this thread and I was not low and it's been almost 3 months since my las oil change. I wonder why some peoples do this and others don't

Much is how the rings seated during break-in. That is why you see some with little use and some with substantial. And some see the use go down the more miles put on.

All thou this is a good theory, I am not so sure this is true. I know a couple people who were running the 1/4 mile soon after purchasing their Camaro and they are experiencing no oil loss. I know how I broke my engine in and I am not losing oil, other than what would be deemed as normal. The average customer is probably following the recommended break-in procedure and most of them are not experiencing oil loss. So I would think there is still something happening to those few who are having excessive oil consumption. IMO.
