Thinking of getting a CAI
I have a 2013 2SS/RS auto and I was thinking about installing a CAI for it to give it a bit more punch as well as deepen the sound. I don't want to re-tune it for warranty reasons since it is new so I have a couple of questions...
What is a good CAI that won't need a tune that not only looks good but also performs good in terms of sound and performance? Will installing a CAI void the warranty or will it be a problem if the vehicle is taken to be serviced down the road? Any tips or insight on experiences is greatly appreciated. TIA guys. -robert. |

Most intake systems available for these cars do not require a tune and will not impact your warranty. I am going to go out on a limb and predict that you are about to get a lot of suggestions for the CAI Inc intake systems because they do exactly what you just described. They look and perform great! Below is a link to a thread I created with a TON of information about air intake systems. Give it a read and if you have any questions feel free to shoot a PM to me or give us a call.

Now this is good reading. I have been looking at the CAI Inc intake and I read that there is a "scoop" that can be added. Not sure what this is or what benefits you get with it?

I sent a message to CAI about having the lid window removed and the CAI badge also removed... wonder if they could do this?

The answer is no simply based on the fact that the way we produce and manufacture these it would be completely out of our normal production practices, as well as outside of our approved quality procedures. It would also require a new program to be written for the CNC which cuts the lid, and would require 1 lid to be cut out of a single sheet of raw stock, etc. etc. Basically if you really wanted to get more of a stealth or blacked out look, I would simply tint the filter inspection window and touch up the fasteners with black paint. Or you could leave it as is since it looks sweet how we designed it! Either way, thanks for choosiong CAI Inc., you will be glad you did! |
