Also this is pure speculation but turbowerx recently released a cheaper version of the exa-pump, maybe to compete with the influx of cheap brass gear pumps on the market? another link with potentially less biased turbowerx review: http://www.proformance.com.au/#!Turb...4-4E7445B410D7

Great articles on pumps!! I'm sure there are other good quality pumps on the market. I simply have had good luck with the EXA PUMP. Used them for years on differential cooling systems, turbo scavenge and pre-engine lubers. Never experienced any issues. Of course everything goes back to CLEAN FILTERED OIL. Got to keep the oil clean. I, too, wish they were cheaper but that's life.

I extracted some of the fluid with a syringe from the power steering reservoir and the fluid looks clean. The color is still pink/reddish. I have some new fluid coming tomorrow so I'll top it off and see if the steering is any better.

Does anyone know the correct GM part number for the power steering fluid on the LFX?

BTW maybe they took the pump off or a line when installing your turbos and forgot to top it off. That might be why you don't see a leak and would probably be best case for you other than running it low for a while???
Hope topping it off solves it for you. Here is a PDF of the owners manual so you don't have to run out to the car, or if you don't have one.

Thanks. I think they updated the part number from the manual to 19329448. Here is the old fluid compared to the new LOL.

Yeah, Seems these cars have several discontinued p/n's with new numbers.
Wonder would running it low do that to the fluid?

It's been 3.5 years and 18000 miles so I'm not sure how the fluid got like that. It's been sitting all winter and I did move from Michigan to Colorado 3 years ago so not sure if elevation has an effect?

So I changed out the power steering fluid and hit the intermediate drive shaft u joints with some lubricant... Feels like the steering has loosened up a little but I'll keep my eye on it.

Well it seemed like the steering was easier but I took it out for a drive tonight and it still seemed really stiff. The steering wheel almost returns to center after a turn but not all the way. Maybe the pump is on its way out? Or maybe and issue with a U joint? Maybe I should lift more weights lol?

Maybe you forgot what it is like driving your sports car after having it up for winter. What do you drive then an Escalade? lol
Could be going out but would think you would hear a whine or see a leak somewhere, IDK? Hope you get it figured out doesn't sound to major though. Your fluid did look like something out of my catch can though.
