Pfadt race engineering for the win !!! JEP , definitely if coilovers are in your build budget they are the way to go. Their stage 2 drop and sway package is also bulletproof. Great product , Great company to work with and Great customer service

I wondered the same thing. I would only drop it an inch and leave it. The only real benefit to the coilovers from a height standpoint is the ability to drop it real low with out killing the ride or handling.
This is on my list of mods, but I will do it for the handling advantaqe and to maintain ride comfort.

When you make ride height changes you need to correct the wheel alignment because you are effectively placing your wheel in a different spot in it's range of motion. We find that most of our coilover users set the car at a ride height they like, possibly get the car corner balanced, then have their alignment done and never touch ride height again. The biggest tuning tool you use with coilovers is the damping adjustment, which does not require realignment. The folks who are making constant ride height adjustments are generally race teams who have access to alignment equipment. |

1. The ability to set the ride height to your specific taste or use. 2. While the OE dampers on the 5th Gen are good, they are not perfect. An adjustable damper allows the owner to tune the damping to meet their specific ride quality and handling needs. 3. Jounce travel in GM speak. This is the amount of actual travel in the suspension including full compression of the bumpstop. Lowering coils reduce jounce travel. Jounce travel equals ride quality. Pedders Xa coilovers have the same jounce travel because they adjust height by screwing into and out of the clevis as opposed to using the spring perch. 4. Independent bound and rebound is the Holy Grail for the enthusiast car owner. Pedders Supercars have independent bound and rebound adjustment. You can get a good result with lowering coils. A better result with coilovers with fixed ratio damping adjustment and the best result with independent bound and rebound remote reservoir Supercar coilovers. That covers damping and coils, but the more important topic is what is the most important first mod for a 5th Gen Camaro? Foundational bushes. Lowering coils, coilovers, sway bars, RWHP increase and everything else that you do to your 5th Gen will work better is the foundation is sound. That starts with Pedders sub-frame and radius bush inserts. They prepare your 5th gen for every other modification. Depending on how far you plan to take your 5th Gen full sub-frame and radius bushes may be better, but it all starts with a great foundation. A great foundation is also cost effective. It allows you to get the most from every dollar you have spent on your 5th Gen. |
