Rachel, I wanted to follow up with you - since you are the 1st person I know to have installed headers on the V6. After all was said and done, what do you think shops should be charging to do those? Like I mentioned before we had a person in our Indy group get quotes around $700 for labor Needless to say they sold the headers and gave up. $700 seems insane to me, but I don't know if they really knew how to do it so they probably factored in 3 hours of just staring at it!

You guys are all fortunate that you have so many people to help out with mods! We have a good group of Camaro lovers over here in Indy, but few are comfortable tearing deep into their cars. I have always been a wrench-head, and I am trying to convert Hank (except in instances where light torque is needed)!!

I would not say it is a stupid face - more like the creepy guy driving around the playground in his van. "Hey kids - would you like to go for a ride in my van and help me find my lost puppy - I have ice cream with strawberries on top"

J-
I also hate to have my pic taken, so I know what you mean. I appreciate that you and Mike let me take a pic. I think it's a GREAT pic. You were obviously being silly.

There's a big softball just waiting to be hit out of the park.

IMO $700 is WAY too high. I will say, the V8 headers are a lot easier to install than the V6. I may just be a tight ass, but I love working on my own car(s).

The $700 includes losing a bolt for 2 hours. Standard for header install.

I have the exact same headers & put them on almost a year ago...Rachel's went a little quicker than mine (6? hours vs 8 on mine) but part of that was doing them before & part was having more hands to wrench...with air ratchets, this should be no more than a 4 hour mod...the work itself is fairly simple, the trick is actually reaching the bolts...$700 is crazy for an install of these...hell for that kind of money, I'll come install them at your house....lol

I was just thinking... did anyone check the torque on Rachel's header bolts?
