I have heard a number of dumb things from the dealer, but the most recent one was when they tried to offer me $21,000 for my ABM 2SS/RS and then proceeded to tell me that it is a tough time of year to sell used Camaros and that there was no way they could go any higher. I told the sales manager that I had three inquiries for mine while it sat next to the Hot Wheels one that I had just driven. Tough to sell...yeah right!

dumb dealers
When I went to purchase the car (order it) in 2009 the dealer told me he didint know how much the car costs. Meanwhile I had the price in my pocket

On the last Ford I ever bought (1990 I think) the paint started to peel off the roof after the car was a month old.
Service Manager: "This is not a case of having a paint issue, this is caused by bird droppings and will not be covered" Me: "Unless the birds around here $hit enamel reducer you will repaint the car under warranty!"

I don't know anything about Cradle to the Grave, but i2disturbedSS is correct, this particular movie in question is Exit Wounds with Steven Seagal and Earl Simmons, aka DMX.

These are great.
I have to say, I've heard my share over the years. One of my favorites was working two dealers at once. Second dealer says there's no way you have that price. I whip out the offer on paper. He then agrees to best it by $500. I called the first dealer and told him I preferred his vehicle (which I did) but these guys ended up coming down so I was going to buy it unless he matched it. He refused. About three days later he called me asking when I was coming in to buy the car. I told him I bought the other one. He says, "why didn't you call me?". I told him I had, from the parking lot of the other dealer! He says, "oh yeah." You could hear the frustration that he'd lost the sale.

We went for a drive in a 2SS RS LS3. I had some complaints about the car, such as the shifter and the gauges, which were too jukebox for me, and as we drove the salesman and I talked. It was evident he didn't know much about the Camaro, or about cars really. When we got back, they did two things which were incredible to me. 1) They actually tried to sell me a car I didn't want to buy...They didn't have what I wanted. Didn't even try to find the car for me. They got a "manager" to see what deal they could make...uh, what deal? You don't have the car I want. Oh, hey, we can't get the car you wanted, but say, don't you really like that 2SS RS you just drove? Look we have the same one in the showroom. Let's go look. "OK". I said. "And if it has what I want, I'll buy it right now for the price of the 1SS." Oh, we can't do that! But we can take 600 bucks off the price if you want us to remove the stripes (for real, he said that) "Well then let's not go look, because if it's not what I want I'm not buying it, you know it's not what I want, and I don't want you showing me cars I don't want to buy". 2) After I told them I wasn't buying the car they wanted me to buy, I was only buying the car I wanted to buy, the went and "got another manager to talk it over". Uh-huh. I told him the same thing: I'm not buying the car you're pushing on me, goodbye. And then in the parking lot, a third manager waved me down and tried the same pitch again. I shook his hand and told him to get away from the front of my car because I was leaving.

I was at the drag strip this summer and ran into a guy there and it turned out he was a Chevy salesman. There were a few other drivers standing around and we were talking about the ZL1. The Chevy salesman jumps in and says that the ZL1 is nothing, just wait until you see what the Z28 is going to do in the 1/4 mile. I spoke up and said that the Z28 is designed for a road course and not the 1/4 mile. That the drive train of the Z28 is lightened for a road course and that it is not designed to handle the hard launches of the 1/4 mile. As we all know salesman are great at dominating most conversations and he quickly laughed at me. He told me I had it backwards and that Chevy had the ZL1 and the Corvette if you want to road race. The early Z28's were designed strictly for the 1/4 mile and the new Z28 is sticking to it's roots and again is designed strictly for the 1/4 mile. I again tried to explain it to him but he again just laughed and asked me where I got my information from because I had no idea what I was talking about. I then just gave up because you just can't fix stupid.

Went to Autonation here in Houston. Was looking for 2lt not black or yellow. Sales girl said they had plenty. Got yhere and not only did they not have any 2lt all they had was black and yellow and a couple ls in silver and white. Got a strict budget perfect credit. Needed a car badly so looked at impala. Took for test drive, manager said take it to lunch. While at lunch got a call from a salesman at Norm Freede said he had exactly what I wanted but used.
Said cool. Drove impala over and drove off an hour later with a 2010 2lt rs with 22k miles on it. Gf drove impala back to autonation and I told salesgirl I bought a camaro. 5 months later I bought a 2014 2 LT RS with dual mode wxhaust. Norm Freede gave me 20k on my 2010 with it being damaged, needing front bumper replaced after someonr backed into me. |

Had an interesting experience at a dealer down here in Socal. I walk onto the lot:
Salesman: "hey how's it going? What can I help you with?" Me: "hey I'm looking for a Camaro SS with the 1LE performance package" Salesman: "yea no problem got one over here" (takes me over to a car) Me: "umm that's a nice car and I'd love to have it but that's a ZL1" Salesman: "oh sorry about that!" "are you sure this isn't the car you're talking about?" Me: "yes I'm sure. The one I'm talking about has a flat black hood" Salesman: "oh that one! Why didn't you say so?" (takes me to a white 1SS bare 1LE absolutely no options) Me: "I like it in white, but this one is cloth inside and I want a leather interior." Salesman: "oh these cars don't come in leather" I felt embarrassed for him.
