Thought everyone would get a kick out of this

So today was one of those days where you wake up and know its going to be a good day. Sun was out, car was clean and ready to be driven, only down side was I had work lol. So I stop off at the gas station to fill up since im almost on E. Guy hands me back my card and I leave. So tonight I just checked my online banking and im looking at my withdraws and apparently someone messed up while filling my tank because it says VISA - SHELL/438 US HIGHW $1.00....

It's a p.o.s purchase. They usually only charge you $1 and the total is pending. It should show up later after the payment clears.

usually it goes right threw in full amount. I use the same gas station all the time, this is a first for me to ever have that show up on a withdraw. Fingers crossed though lol

It depends on if they run it as credit or debit.

I would feel bad if it was anything other than a gas station but seeing that oil companies post billions & billions of dollars profit every year they should be obligated to give people a free fill up once in a while

I hope it works out in your favor! lol

Most stations are privately owned.

Rest assured the full amount will go through. With gas prices as high as they are, the stations around here usually pre-authorize a charge of $50-$75 on a point of service sale (at the pump) to ensure that the card is good for up to that amount. Most of the time it may not show up, but occasionally the card gets encumbered for the max amount even though you didn't get that much and it takes up to a week for the overcharge to be removed. That little secret has gotten a lot of folks slapped with overdraft charges if their bank account carries a low balance and the owner has it figured down to the dime. You might just pay for something and although your money is "TECHNICALLY" there, it's tied up and waiting for the authorization charge to clear.
