Disabling On Star

I'm planning on completely disabling my ONSTAR on both of my camaros and my Traverse. So here's the question. By removing the onstar fuse and unplugging the onstar box, will doing that disable the XM radio as well?
Any thoughts on this would be appreciate. Thanks.

I can't offer any insight as to how integrated this system is with things, but I have to ask, why would you do this? Don't want the boogie man to find you?

Here we go again...some people just dont want it on there cars, and that is their choice. I am sorry I dont have any insight on how to disable it, but there are a few threads on here that have talked about disabling onstar.

because they can still track your car. Other threads have had some funny comments like putting foil over the antenna, etc. There are some funny comments actually. Some people are paranoid over Onstar selling their informatin to insurance companies and having information in general. Others just don't want it on their car.

fyi...they data log our cars too. This could easily be used against us. It's Big Brother disguised as a service. No thanks

Yeah, I heard about all that when you cancelled they still kept track of everything as if it wasn't cancelled, but I think they stopped doing that.

The data logging is on board, has nothing to do with OnStar, it is built into a "Black Box" hsdden somewhere inside the car. No matter if you disable OnStar or not your car can tell on you.

You have to opt out of that for them to stop. Contact OnStar to find out how.

I cannot believe the paranoia in this country, as long as you are not doing anything illegal, whats the problem?

Besides think about the size of the computer memory they would need to track every car that is OnStar equipped.

Well to get into it.
The first reason: An aquantance of mine was cut off in traffic in his silverado and was yelling at the s.o.b. that did it when onstar cut off the radio and asked if everything was o.k. WTF. This really pissed off this guy. He asked what the F are you doing listening to my conversations???
The rep from Onstar said they can detect elevated voices in the vehicles.
So this guy removed the fuse to his onstar and cancelled it.
I don't want anyone invading my privacy in my own cars either.

Second reason: Every time i use the directions feature on the car, it gets me lost.

Third reason is: with 3 vehicles that have it, it's costing me plenty. That's one bill i can do without right now.

I want it totally disabled for the reason that i don't want big brother knowing where i am or what i'm saying. It's none of anybody's business but mine.
