Spear Phishing test

http://www.sonicwall.com/furl/phishing/

There are explanations at the end.

Post your scores.

I got 10/10, but I'm in IT Security.

another note: mistaking a legit email for a phish is not so bad, but the reverse is VERY bad.

Be safe out there.

THIS is the truth.

I didn't Google any of that because I pretty much know what to look for...however too many people are too trusting of e-mail.

Another thing that you really couldn't use in this test was From e-mail address. They were just showing the Pseudo Name and not a URL which you can figure out if you know where to look and depending on what e-mail program you use.

Also, how many of you thought twice and researched the link to the test before clicking it?

it says that the chase email was a real email, however if you do some research that email is also a phishing email, not sure why sonic wall approved it as a real email..

I'm a bit of a ringer since I take care of my org's sendmail servers, and am always looking at email headers.

lordfriday: I read that link you posted, and I disagree. Verifying a transaction is not phishing (getting personal info for identity theft). It could be used by spammers to verify that your email address is active, but that's a different story. And I did at one time receive an email like that from Chase, and resulted in me getting a new credit card number because some dopey company I bought something from was hacked.

I really failed. However most of my wrong answers were calling the legit phishing...because of misspellings, contractions in the text and missing words.
