Cleaning up the engine bay but have a question

I was going through some of the engine bay pic threads and I would like to do some work on mine.

One of the things I want to get rid of is the silver wrap around the 2 hoses just under the left side engine cover. It looks like silver duct tape. In most of the engine bay pics I saw most people have it on there.

Here is a pic of engine bay as it sits right now. Just under the left side engine cover, on the right side of the fuse box, the silver tape wrapped around the 2 hoses is what I'm talking about. I don't know what it is but every time I open the hood I look right at it and it really annoys me.

I guess I have 2 questions. 1. What are those hoses? and 2nd would there be any problems if I took that off?

Maybe some kind of heat resistant tape since it's so close to the engine?

That's what I was thinking but there are other hoses close to the engine without this tape. I some of the engine bay pics I saw it looks like some have removed it but the majority didn't.

I'm pretty sure it's the engine wiring harness and not actual hoses.
