Smart Key
Hey all,
I know this has been discussed before, and many of you are glad that the car doesn't come with a push button start, but this is the only thing lacking with the car in my opinion. It is so handy to just walk up to the car, get in and drive off. When you get to your destination, get out, close the door, and walk away. Does anyone think this will become an option in 2011? I would rather have this feature than, HUD, Nav, or especially XM/Onstar. Do any of you have cars that have the smartkey/push button that don't like it? Thanks. |

The only issue I have with those smart keys is that they will eventually be hacked. A university figured out how to hack into remote keyless entry for cars within a few weeks. The encryption used for that has not been changed since it first started coming out in the 80s. I'm not sure if the SmartKey uses the same encryption tech, but either way its really only a matter of time till someone figures it out. Physical keys will still be safer.

I feel that you should have to turn a key on a hotrod. It does'nt have climate control...so its not a luxury car. And its (the SS at least) gonna be somewhat loud when I get it, and louder later....so its a hotrod. Ergo - key

when the Top Gear guys tested the ZR1, CTS-V, & the Challenger all three had push-button starters. they stopped for lunch & Jeremy took the Challenger and parked it in the middle of the road just to show he could. Richard had the keys inside, but the proximity range allowed the car to still operate a good ways away. i sure don't want somebody doing that to my car!

I had push button on my last Vette and LOVED it.
However, it's a nice to have option and not a necessary option. Just build my car already. |

I was actually hoping for some smart keys, and a push button start. Since i am buying a 2011 or 2012 model maybe they will add it for those model years. I hope.

I really like the idea of a push button start. I thought that would have been cool.

My dad has the Corvette, he can't get 8-10 feet away before the thing locks up tighter than a drum. Hammond had to leave it unlocked intentionally (if it locks automatically like the vette). That was still funny though.

Just get a 2 way remote start / alarm installed. You don't need a key with the bypass installed.
AND the remote will beep when alarm is tripped. |

Would have liked the feature, but it's not high on my list, which looks like this.
1. Nav 2. HUD 3. Climate Control 4. Non-integrated deck/heating controls 5. Push button minor "options" that I would like, but wont cancel the deal for me.
